I got the same error tonight as well. The Kobo Touch is only a few days old.
I use Calibre and disconnected the Kobo Touch via Calibre.

I'll try only using the W7 disconnect usb devices option from now on and see if it happens again.

I just had this error come up on my month old Kobo Touch.

It had been sitting for nearly a day since I last read something, Last sync was on Friday, and I always close Kobo Desktop or Calibre before using the Win7 system tray to eject.

I did lose some of my awards, but since I loaded all of my books with Calibre, didn't have to worry about reloading them after the reset.

Bit worrysome to happen two days before I go on vacation.

Post reset note however - resetting with the SD card in the slot loaded the books, but for some reason it wouldn't update the home screen with the book I went into to read. Tried with several books and none would update.

A second reset with the SD card removed solved the issue.

I am having this issue as well. It has happened 3 times now in total. Seems to be OK for a couple of days and then the error comes up again. I am using the Kobo Desktop and Adobe Digital Editions. Usually I have been ejecting using the Kobo Desktop, but it sounds like I should be using the Win7 Safely Remove Hardware icon to eject the Kobo. It is frustrating to reload the Kobo Touch each time a reset is done, including the updated firmware and making any setup changes. I am using ADE mainly for library books and am about to embark on a 4 week road trip, so having this work without errors would be nice. I do have a ticket into support, but they have not responded yet.

I've been having this issue as well, but it doesn't seem to occur immediately after transferring books or safely removing the device. I just reset it last night due to a storage error and loaded my books on it again. I read once last night and a couple times today. The third time I turned it on today, I was given a storage error and the book I was reading was no longer in my library. Any ideas?

My touch does it also, but only when it goes into powered off mode, and I just close the error message, and continue reading with no problem or loss of data. The recent update is causing this error and my guess it has something to do with adding the dictionary access to side-loaded books. Hope the next update fixes it.

I just got it today. Closed the screen and reloaded the book and it loaded fine. "I ain't scared of no ghosts!" I read a complete book just before and never got that error message so I don't know what triggered it.
KT is a week old and is on 9.5. Haven't reconnected since the first time on XP/calibre.

I just got the error again today at work and accidentally hit reset instead of trying to see if my book was still there. The error has been happening much more often since the 1.9.6 update. Resetting the device all the time is starting to get very irritating... especially when I'm away from home and can't do it immediately.

I am then left with an option to cancel or do a Factory Reset. I've done the factory reset twice now and my Kobo will operate fine for a day or two and then I will get the message again.

Right now I can close the error window and read books, although reading life will not update. I have a large collection of books so doing another factory reset is not fun, nor do I have any confidence that it will do anything for me long term at this point.

Anybody else experiencing this problem or know of a possible solution?
I am curious are you using Calibre to manage things?

I do use Calibre, so I removed all the Calibre books, and no error message. I will try to sideload books without Calibre and see if I get the error.

I don't use Calibre and I'm getting this problem. I'm using Adobe Digital Editions and the desktop software.
I may be living on borrowed time, but since I have been diligent in waiting a minute or two after the last job is processed before ejecting my device I have not had any further instances of the dreaded "eReader Storage Error" message.

Ok, I did a factory reset and only loaded Kobo books on it and sure enough, I got the same error message when I turned it back on from a power off mode. This never happened before the update, so it's something wrong with the latest update. Getting very frustrated--can I use it without the update? Back to the reliable PRS350 for me!

Kobo Home Screen No Last read, Starts up by itself

I have had a few problems with my Kobo TOuch since UPdating it. One is that it sometimes it puts itself on sleep after I make it shutdown. SO I will shut it down, wake up and its on sleep, or on all together. Secondly the last book I read is not appearing on my home screen, no matter how much I try, this is bothersome since I read 2-3 books at a time depending on my mood. I also have done a couple of factory resets for this problem, it works for a bit, then goes back to what it feels like doing on its own.

The auto power-on was a bug introduced with version 1.9.6 of the firmware. Version 1.9.8 was supposed to fix the problem. Do you have 1.9.8? The disappearing books from the Home screen is a known problem if a SD card is used. Are you using a SD card?
