When I first got my 350, I bought a 300-sized case at Radio Shack while I considered my options. I loathed it every time I pulled out my 350, black and clunky and huge, so I'm feeling your pain on that one.

If you can get the standard blue case plus a tiny light, that might be your best/only option, with the side benefit of an even slimmer profile, while you'd only have to tote the light when necessary. Unless Sony comes out with a slew of accessories that fit the current line this fall. A Draco Malfoy cover, perhaps? Lumens!

OP, have you thought about importing the cover from the UK (or another European country)? You might find a seller on Amazon's UK marketplace, or on eBay, who is willing to post out to NYC. You'll pay a premium for it, of course (on top of the already extortionate cost of the cover), but you'll get what you want!

The cover you PM'd me regarding (the one I sent back to the seller as I didn't like it), was bought from Amazon marketplace. You can't find the covers in the shops over here either, and so one is forced to look in all sorts of shady corners of the internets to procure one. It's a case of putting your money where your mouth is, I think, unfortunately.

And as for the over-sized pocket calculator look with the Tuff-Luv Multi-View... I can't disagree that it does take something away from the beauty of the device, buy my, what a PROTECTED over-sized pocket calculator! And I also like the fact that I'm less of a target for would-be thieves. The whole set-up looks like one of those horrible PDAs from the nineties. I don't mind - I know what's under the cover!

That's actually a good idea. I'd hate not having the best part of an overpriced case, but OL (Official Lightless) would be more palatable than the monstrosity I'm toting currently.

Here's the question: If I'm springing for a non-lighted official case at $39.95, should I mayhaps spend $30 more and compel Josh at HMCurriers to confect one to my specs? I could specify I wanted blue-tinged leather and probably sway other MR members to buy one after they saw mine.

Which brings us back to the subject of the thread: Which light approximates the effect of Sony's most closely? We've had a vote for the Verso -- does everyone else agree?

To truly approximate the immersive incandescence I've grown to love, I suspect the light in ques. should be mountable center-left.

I'll tell you what doesn't work with my 350: The mEdge eLuminator. No comparison with the light I seek -- not in terms of lighting the page overall.

Another good point -- though, in keeping with my silent film metaphor (re the effect of the light), I'd prefer an Un-Chien-Andalou-themed cover.

In fact, I've considered troubling Poppaea about this very thing, keeping in mind the expense. (However, it's best to keep in mind she's a busy woman with a queue of suitors. That tall man with a mustache I keep hearing about from relatives, for example.)

It really does look that way. However, you've just mentioned two of the four conspicuous virtues of the TLM: (1) Better protection than the OC; (2) a generic appearance that allows for thief-free absent-mindedness (people won't be drawn to your reader and ask you about it, but neither will they try to slip it into their bags when you're distracted); (3) amazing versatility (It's a velcro'd lock-position platformed portrait reader. No, it's landscape. No, it's a magnet-fastened picture-frame-style reader to hold with one hand or set face-up on a sunny table. No, it's a magnet-fastened full-on body glove.); (4) so cheap at the moment it's practically free.

The Verso Arc-Light is fabulous! I bought it almost right away and just love it. It's USB rechargeable and uses the same micro charger that the reader does. There was a thread on here somewhere discussing it.

The coverage of the light is great, I don't find any bright spots on it. It has two different clips. One is tighter than the other but the loose one sits on the reader better than the tighter one plus I don't like jamming something on my reader. What I do is cut a piece of that rubber (I think) bumped shelf liner and use that between the reader and the light clip. It sits much better and prevents any possible scratching.

I have the blue lighted Sony cover here, sitting on my nightstand. As you obviously love it moe than I do, I am willing to sent it presto to you, PrestiBabe.

My Versolight is as good as it, like Shopaholic said.

Talking Huge problem with x50s ...

And the problem with both x50s is, they are both so so nice to hold and use, although the 350 is tops from this viewpoint.......

But, living in the actual world, I have surrendered to practicallity, and use both in Sony lighted covers, which are excellent - pricey, admittedly, and it does make it look like a .... well........ book !

Prestidigitweeze, have you aquired a blue/black lighted cover yet?

If not, maybe you could ask this seller if he is willing to sell you the lighted cover separately from the Sony Reader he is offering (he is selling both the device and the non-lighted AND lighted covers)?

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=132672

OR, if you've arranged something with Poppaea (I've just read her post), please ignore me. (Just trying to be helpful.)
