[Old Thread] Limitation of length of path to Calibre Library

This is a Windows* OS/file system issue.The cause is the directory paths in the system is longer than 255 characters (including spaces).You may see the error "The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory
name must be less than 248 characters," under the following circumstances:
Opening an assembly with .NET ReflectorExporting source code for an assembly using an add-in such as FileDisassembler, or FileGenerator.There's a lot of additional softwares which can fix this problem like
Long Path Tool.

Long Path Tool can simplify and probably end your problems in unlocking, managing and renaming files that appear to have a long filename.

As a general rule of thumb do not resurrect threads that have been dead for more than 6 months. Calibre is a fast moving, ever changing program and frequently the older the post the less it applies to the current version.

Without a doubt the person that started this thread over 16 months ago has cleared whatever hurdle he had at the time. Additionally that user hasn't logged onto Mobileread in over 2 months. Your well meaning post only served to clutter the current list of new posts.

I encourage you to continue to use your experience in helping the users of this forum, but please avoid necro-posting if at all possible.
