poohbear, thank you for drawing attention to this publisher. I've downloaded a couple of samples to the Kindle for PC application and I'm impressed.
So impressed I'm going to e-mail Delphi and ask them to consider selling their eBooks to non-Kindle users. I could strip the DRM easily enough, but it's the principle. I also don't want to risk messing up what looks to be excellent formatting. I'm currently browsing a sample of their D.H. Lawrence collection. |

Do share what they answer - if they would consider offering epub versions. They respond very promptly to email inquiries.

I just bought my second one, the Mark Twain volume.
It's still downloading or indexing. It's taking a long time, as the file is HUGE! Don |

I'm very interested in their response also. To this point I've been unable to remove their @#$%$ DRM. I've already got a bunch of Amazon's crap that is useless to me.

From email correspondence I've exchanged with Delphi, they do not appear to offer epub versions at the moment, or sell their books through any US vendor other than Amazon (Delphi Classics is based in the UK). They are anxious to offer epub, and are also anxious to sell to non-Kindle US customers but have not yet found a way to do so. I don't know if it's due to geo-restrictions or simply preference of the companies they've tried to do business with, but hopefully they'll find a way around their current obstacles and be able to offer both Kindle and epub titles in the near future.

I asked about ePubs, and if I understand George they are based in the UK and have had difficulty in getting someone to convert their books to ePub. I suggested they try the Faber Factory. Do let us know if they have followed through with that. |

I have also corresponded with them about their catalog (they must be getting a lot of email traffic from just this thread!
![]() From their email: " the majority of Virginia Woolf’s works will still be held under US copyright laws for many years. This Virginia Woolf Complete Works volume is only available in Australia and Canada at present, and in the UK and most of Europe next year. But in the US, because many of her works were published after 1922 and their copyrights have been renewed, it will be a long time until this works will be available for US customers in the Public Domain." "However, in the US customers can purchase the H.G. Wells’ eBook, while in Europe everyone has to wait until 2017!." It appears they are trying to be scrupulous about complying with the myriad of copyright laws and offer only those works that have entered the Public Domain for each country. If anyone here can help them locate an epub partner for file conversions, they seem perfectly willing to do so. |

Hmmmm..... would a DVD sale be subject to the same geo/copyright restrictions as the ebook sale? Or would it be considered sale of a physical medium, like books? If they include all the First Series authors (including Woolf & Wells for example), then US or UK customers couldn't buy it right now (see post #24).
And would it have DRM? |

I've bought five of these now, and, all have converted beautifully to epub, except for one...The Complete Works of Charles Dickens...Anyone had any trouble with this? Calibre simply says it can't convert.

I encountered this with one of the Delphi classics (I forget which one, but it may have been that one) and it turned out Calibre had trouble with the super-long file name. When I renamed the file, it worked fine.
