Anyone take any pics of the disintegrating USB Kindle cords? Curious to see what the effect looks like.

I have never had any kind of USB cord material go bad on me in all my years, though the Kindle cord is the thinnest USB micro cords I have ever seen.

I've had my Kindle and USB cable since late November 2010, and it still looks fine. I've been having sporadic problems lately with the Kindle not being recognized by the computer, though. I'm not sure if the problem's with the cable, the computer, or the Kindle itself. The problem just started occurring about a month ago. I guess I should try another cable and/or USB port to troubleshoot.

Basically, the casing becomes brittle and will crack if the cable is moved at all. Though, I should note that in this case at least, it's the older style cord, not the one currently shipping with Kindle 3s.

No problems, but it's no big deal - it's a standard micro-USB cable. I imagine most people will have several such cables anyway.

The one I got isn't, it's Kindle specific and won't fit anything else. The plug is about half the width of a micro-usb. £9 for a replacement one. I think they've been taking lessons from Apple.

The outer sheath cracked and split on mine about 3 months in - dumped it and use cables from various other products
