I just discovered, after opening a physical e-Readers store, that there are SO many people, who just DO NOT KNOW how to download and copy-paste files to e-readers, not even mentioning the DRM-hassle with the Adobe Digital Editions, etc.... but they want to read books on e-Ink devices...
Sometimes I need to go back as far as to explain what a file and folder is, and how to copy them... In worst cases I just buy the content for them...

And therein lies the secret of Kindle's success.
No computer literacy required.

BTW, 20% of US households have no PC (which means no wifi either) so that is 20% of the potential market that Adept-based ereaders are automatically shut out of.
Somebody had better do something to get PCs out of the ebook loop if the Adept ecosystem is to endure.

with adept now you can shop direct from your device and open/read the book right on the device without going through your ade on pc. the device can have aplace in the settings to put in your adobe id and then you are good to go.

of course at least a wifi connection, a browser good enough to make shopping easy and a web store which is easy to shop from or has a mobile version that makes it easier are also needed.

Yeah, you're right about this... I kept telling this to 'guys in Kiev', but trends in Eastern Europe are a little different - folks there even don't see the necessity in the simple wi-fi, not to mention instant downloads...

There are plenty of free ebooks. Smashwords is a great place to start.
There are some excellent books out there by unknown authors that are really good, if not polished.
