Wow, how recursive. Writing that post made that post the #1 result. Ok, the article should be on the first page. (I didn't want to say the 2nd link because this post might make it the #2 result.)
Before I posted about this thread being the #1 result, this thread was the #1 result. I didn't make my my post just so this thread could be the #1 result.

Sorry, I misread. But in any case, let's hope the ePub looks really nice and the Mobipocket looks plain and ordinary to give a big huge boost to Sony & ePub.

Do you think sales of covers will rocket - to cover up the possibly terrible artwork on the "themed" readers ??

I have a twin sister and it is our 60th birthday this week. She is a huge HP fan but has resisted getting a Reader so far. I am about to offer her a choice. Lobster tonight or an HP Reader in October as a joint BD/Christmas gift.

This is cool and fun but it doesn't tell us if it's going to be a themed version of the 650 (or another existing model) or a new model entirely. Since it does line up with Sony's usual new model launch schedule, let's hope for the latter.

Considering how much difficulty they had in delivering 650s to the USA market, not to mention accessories, I doubt this will be that big of a deal. I suspect they will rebrand a 350 and sell it at an even more ridiculously high price. That is the Sony way, and only fanatics like HP fans would be stupid enough to pay twice what it is worth. I shall remain skeptical until Sony finally gets its act together, which I seriously doubt will ever happen.

And I guarantee a lot of folks will refuse to buy any reader with HP images on it.

The lobster dinner is a one time thing and nothing special. But reading is forever. So don't offer the lobster dinner unless she's not into the idea of the Reader.

Why are you being such a downer? I do think Sony will have new models. I hope I am not wrong.

And I think you are wrong. I do think a lot of people would be a Harry Potter themed Reader. Especially if the stylus was a wand.

It *will* be interesting to see if it's a new reader or just a themed version of the 350.

From a consumer viewpoint Sony's decisions makes no sense whatsoever, disinvesting themselves of stock and then getting in on such a strong brand.

I personally hope this will mean a renewed effort on the ebook reader market for Sony, they've neglected it for too long.

Hopefully Sony will do something more than they did when they had themed readers in the past where is was just a Skinit skin and some bundled books...

I also believe Sony will have new models. I also think many people would like a HP themed ereader. (not sure about a wand stylus.)

As cool as it sounds though I myself would not get one. I like Harry Potter as much as the next person but I dont want to be reminded of it with every book i read.LOL I would much rather have an themed ereader that had generic symbols/pictures that encompassed all reading genres.

I love the wand-stylus idea. I would love an HP themed reader. I can't wait to see what Sony comes up with.

After all the publicity, I can't see how the new one won't have wifi, else it risks being branded as obsolete before it starts !
I can see the kindle, Kobo etc... ads now.....
Don't forget, other ereaders will be able to have the books as well - downloading them wifi-ly. It wouldn't be very clever to not be able to at least equal the competitors.

Mind you, we are talking about Sony here, aren't we, so the daftest possibility is definitely not out of the question !

( I suspect a 650 just a modded 650 - is there room in a 350 for wifi ??!
