Excellently put - what I've tried to say before, but not as eloquently, well done.

[IMHO anyway....]

Like I said, I think the casting was excellent (although Emma Watson was a bit on the forced/wooden side in the beginning).
There is also a side of me that does not want to see parts of the story played out on screen. I took Fred and George's storyline very hard while reading the books and I don't want to "relive" it on video.
For me, Half Blood Prince I thought came closest of any to capturing how it was for me when I read the books. Deathly Hollows Part 1 comes in close, but there are a few things that make me feel a bit not quite the same. The guy who took over the movies with Order of the Phoenix, I think is doing pretty much as good of a job as can be expected, and overall I prefer his movies to the earlier ones. That said, the books are still better.

I have all the movies in DVD then Blu-ray. I have a copy of all the books in e-book form but have only read the first chapter of the first book. One day I will read them but they do not call me like the Lord of the Rings books which I read all three back to back in a week and also have all the movies first in DVD then in Blu-ray.

A clear money-grab from the beginning, the first movie at least had charm and wit and a fun story to go along with the stunts and scenery chewing. The sequels progressively amp'ed the stunts and effects at the expense of character and story until the latest decided to dispense altogether with the central narrative of the first trilogy.

Lots of movie franchises work that way, cranking out episode after episode all built on the premise that if people paid to see it once, they'll pay to see it twelve times with minimal window dressing.

Unfortunately, the premise is true.
The audience doesn't know the sequel may be poor quality until after they've seen the movie. Sure the early viewers may tell their families and friends that it wasn't very good but this may be too late. The gross receipts of the first couple of weeks may be enough to make the movie a success.
