NONSENSE Jack!

I can eject devices day in / day out from my PC and reinsert them at any time. The only thing needed is to ensure that AFTER doing the eject you actually unplug the USB cable from the device and later on, replug the cable in!

I have been ejecting kobo's, usb sticks memory cards for a long long time with out any trouble (windows 7 currently) as long as you unplug the cable you are fine. No reboot is required.

Huh? I can eject the USB device (be it a Kobo or flash drive or whatever) and then unplug it and plug it back in and it will be recognised again just fine. Using Windows XP but it should work that way on all versions of Windows.

Sounds almost like black magic. No operating system should be rebooted
for any reason. It is a matter of garbage collection solution.
I'm aware that people tend to reboot win from time to time. They have
explanation, I'm sure. Contrary, some vms nodes are up for years, on more
advanced hardware, of course. Linux and freebsd are capable of removing
traces for usb adapter.

That's how it is with me, and I'm using Windows 7. I've connected my KT, eject it, and reconnected it multiples times without having to reboot the OS. I don't think there's a Kobo Touch issue going on.
