Kijac not sure where your posting form but the Sony 650 has recently reappered in the Aussie Sony online shop, I was rather surprised at this as I thought stock was out everywhere http://www.sony.com.au/product/prs-650
comes with a free standard cover. Unfortunatly the price is full aussie RRP and shipping is likely to take a week Aust. to Aust. |

Still I would trade our site for 650 availability! And even the cover with light! But I couldn't find any info on colors... am I just blind? Do they just sell the red one over there as well? And they still don't sell the 950 in AU? SONY sure has a masochistic understanding of 'marketing' and a complete lack of understanding of synergies. I mean, who's the genius that thought - "let's design only one model with wifi and 3g, bigger screen and then let's sell it only in ONE market, for only 6 months". Maybe they go with a Ferrari-like branding plan? Build demand through exclusivity? Someone should explain to them that doesn't work when you hardware is supposed to drive sales of content... |

Yep its pretty crazy the 950 would have been popular here but was never released, from memory we only got the black in the 650(possibly the silver too my memory is a bit fuzzy) but their were multiple colours available in the 350. We also did not get a sony book store like you guys did instead we were directed to buy from borders or angus & robertson(aussie book shop). Its about time that the industry realised that its a global marketplace these days

I stopped by the SonyStyle outlet store in San Diego today and they had both pink and silver refurb 350 units in stock for $99. It looked like they had at least six or seven of each color.

The Sony Shop Australia has the PRS-650 for sale at the moment AU$299.
They must be getting batches of twenty or something every other month as availability is very sporadic. |

Oddly enough, I've seen the old 900, 600, and 300 in my local Walmart. I'd definitely recommend calling around to see what store of stock the various stores have before going anywhere and the inventory systems are no always accurate. I was told by one BB that another local BB would have the 950, but they checked their shelves and couldn't find it.

Local Best Buy in S Arlington is notorious for not having a clue as to what items they have in stock. If it is listed on their website as being in stock they might not be able to find it. Sometimes it is as simple as checking the stockroom rather than the shelves, but convincing a BB clerk to do that is often impossible. If they cannot find it on the shelves or in the locked cabinets below the shelves, they give up. When I bought my 350 last Autumn it was locked in a storage bin next to the cash registers, and they almost didn't find it. Had I not pressed the issue and insisted on talking with the store manager, they would never would have found it. The same thing happened a year earlier when I bought a 300 just after they were released, but in that case they were in the back storage room.

People, it would really help if you put in your location. Then you would not get answers to your questions of where that are not appropriate.
