I like it very much -- For straight reading it does an excellent job. I'm new to KOBO & have been trying out all kinds of things -- So I have "learned" not to open things in two aps at a time (possible foul up of database) -- I suspect the next update in firmware will bring in Fonts, Dictionary, Highlights etc. for all documents, making life better for people who use these things. One thing I really appreciate is the great range in type size. Typically I try to place a full page on the screen (compared with original hardcopy).

Hardware wise it is a very good mix -- Wifi issues I suspect are do to a number of tuning factors for wpa, security & possibly the radio. Software started a little rough, is pretty good now & I sure soon will be enhanced with desired features and robustness of the environment. I do like the slim form factor with minimal edges and thickness. |

You beat me by 11 hours ... got mine that Friday night at 8:30 before the store closed. I haven't any "problems" but I'm also tolerant of brand new devices; certainly no show-stoppers so far and I am extremely impressed at how attentive Kobo is to making firmware adjustments so early on. Plus, it's unheard of how active Kobo developers (not marketing spinsters) are in this forum. Bravo! |

Sounds like a good ereader lol. Kobo are actually sending me a new wifi as my other one has died and I will return it to them. So I dunno if I should bother buying a touch now...

I *love* my Kobo Touch. And the battery is lasting forever. That definitely wasn't the case with the KO and K WiFi.

I was wondering if the models with the white front frame have the rubberized coating like the black models?

I think I prefer a solid plastic frame without any coating on it. |

Good question. I have the white/silver model on it's way to me and hope to see it in the next 3-4 days. I was thinking about the black model, but the reports of it being a bit of a fingerprint magnet was enough to turn me off the idea.

I have had both black and white Kobo models previously, but I settled on black for the Kobo Touch. The contrast just looks better with a dark background surrounding the screen.

It's an interesting optical illusion you can easily see if you put the black and white models side by side: the black model looks like it has better screen contrast, when they are actually identical. The white bezel is much whiter than even the new Pearl screen, which makes the screen background look like a darker grey by comparison. Even side by side, your eye insists that the screen of the black model has a lighter grey background. While it may be an optical illusion, there is a practical effect. Because the black bezel is much darker than the screen, your brain automatically sees the shade of the screen background as "white", making the contrast to the dark text clearer. If you introduce a confusing brighter white bezel into your field of view, that becomes the perceived "white" level, reducing the apparent contrast between the dark text and the medium grey background. |

I have oily skin and I hate the marks on my rubberized finished mouse and keyboard. So I am the proud owner of a white/silver Kobo touch today

I have a black and there is a fingerprint problem -- and not just when eating KFC. Although I think it isn't bad enough to not take the white over black if you like black, because as stated it does give the appearance of greater screen contrast as well as just looks really sleek! I definitely has a better "feel" to it being rubberized, and seems to be more durable. The original Kobo finish was very easy to scratch despite being a hard plastic and didn't feel as good quality.

I really like the white finish of the Original Kobo and the Kobo WiFi and I have not noticed any scratching in my normal use (I have yet to buy a cover or case as the $30 Roots slip covers are attractive but too pricey for me). With three Kobo ereaders, I admit the black was chosen so I would spot it easily in the stack

I love the Touch. Much faster than the Wireless. Sluggishness and flicker when doing page turns is almost gone. Still a bit but much better.

Mine just arrived. It downloaded the update, found my wifi (but g, not n band; hmm) and is just a joy to use so far. I had a kindle 2 and this blows it out of the water. So far, it's otherwise great.

One user interface thing: No heart symbol when the books are viewed as covers 6 to a page, so I was confused as to how to add to a shortlist. The heart is present in the other views. This thing is great, and I'm looking forward to the tweaks to things like fonts--They need to lose the bigger, bigger, bigger thing and let you see what it looks like. |
