thanks Forks, but isn't this the one with the plastic tabs? I really do not trust myself with those, the covers I am looking at do "envelope" the reader completely.

The cover has plastic holders that are designed for openings in the housing. Very safe and reliable.

thanks for the explanation Forkosigan - and no disrespect, but I prefer a full "envelope" around the device, as I am defintely less able to tear leather than to break the fixings

There are no signs of damage to be seen at the moment, neither on the inside nor the outside, but I have these covers only for a couple of months.

The covers bend barely, so I think they are strong enough to be put in a backpack. I wouldn't mind doing it, but I would still be careful and to avoid moist I would maybe put PB and cover in a plastic bag. I take my PB603 in my bag to my work and I don't put something else around it to protect it.

The Navitech seems different to me on the inside.

And you are right not to trust them
Tha "original" cover for my 602 lasted app. four weeks until the first nose broke off, I then started replacing them one by one by selfmade glasfibre fittings, but these didn't look too good, so I abandoned the complete cover in May.
Got myself a hemp cover from Tuff-Luv that's still great, but apparently they don't produce for the 10" PB any more.
Maybe you can get one on Ebay or Amazon

Since the original cover until end December 2011 are available in Germany, it could not be of original cover for PB602 ...

@Troll05: maybe there is something wrong with brown in the large devices, as there used to be a cover-up in brown leather, but that has also disappeared.

after reading some bad reviews on the cheapness oftheleather inthe navitech, I just ordered the red one for £27 on ebay: looks very pretty in the picture. Thank you all!

either way, Fork bear in mind that there is competition out there, and no matter how sturdy and high quality the plastic hinges, a full "wrap" is always going to feel safer - and given that it is cheaper and is available in various colours, unless one likes a very clean look, it is hard to resist temptation. Besides Toll's report, I had also read of problems on the Ukranian forum, so if this is a new sturdiest model I'd give it more publicity if I were you (or a long warranty on the hinges breaking, which would have solved all of my doubts). My 2 p.
