Oh, wow...That's amazing! I was apprehensive about losing the B&N reader...but if I am just adding goodness to my nook, this is a no-brainer! Thanks again

Rooted my nook last night. Installed FBReader and FBSync...Hooked it up to my dropbox...Now all my books are synced up across my devices, and all is good in the world.
![]() I just need to figure out a way to remap the hard buttons on my nook, and then it will be perfect! ![]() Thanks again ![]() |

I feel really stupid sometimes ... I rooted my nook this morning with the TouchNooter 1.6.24 file. Worked just fine.
But, I'm having some problems which are most likely due to my stupidness: 1. When I get into an android app (the browser or even the simple calculator) ... how do I get out of it and back to a another app? 2. If I hit the <BOOK> icon at the top of the screen it opens my current book. However, I can't figure out how to get from a book aback to 'droid unless I hit the POWER OFF and reboot. 3. Now I'm really confused! Instead of the <GX> option after booting I picked the 2nd option. Now, it appears like I'm back in basic nook mode. However, there is a faint icon on the left side of the screen. If I hit that I get a mini menu with <X> <...> <squares> <house> and <down arrow>. I would assume that hitting <house> would take me to the 'droid screen, but it takes me to the Nook-Home. And, now, when I repower I don't get the options screen anymore. Do I need to re-root? I'm assuming that there is an boot options file or something somewhere? |

1)If you can access the apps launch Nook Color app 2) Go to all settings>manage Application press the four square above the home button change the filter to ALL. 3)In the list of apps their will be an app named HOME press it then press clear defaults. 4) Now press the home button on the side of your screen you should get 2 options go launcher and home. Tick the check box for set as default and select Go launcher now it should load every time you press home. |

What's the benefit to the stock reader over the Android version? |

I was apprehensive about any future functionality that might be released for the B&N Nook reader. It sounded like they had some grand designs for it; I just didn't want to wait. |

I didn't try it, but it seems xda folks managed to get both physical buttons and partial refresh working on FBReader.

I found this on doing a full restore, worked for me.
http://www.keyourcars.com/2011/06/26...ouch-recovery/ Since there was a bit of bad information out there about recovering Barnes and Nobles Simple Touch eReader I thought I'd share. I rooted mine and wanted to recover it back to stock. You can wipe the \data partition by doing 8 interupted starts. To do that you power it off and then on (hold power and home buttons if it's truly borked up) until it tries to start up. As soon as you see the starting message, press the home and power buttons simultaneously and hold them down until it restarts again. Lather, rinse, repeat 7 more times at which point it'll wipe the data partition and your user data. NOTE: This does NOT restore to factory. To do a full recovery, power it down and then power it up right after it starts coming up, press both the left and right lower buttons on the face of the nook touch, hold them down for several seconds during the start up and it'll prompt you for a system wipe. Press Home twice to confirm you truly want to do that. Takes a minute or two and then you'll have a clean nook. |
