actually havent had the unit tell me to recharge as yet. But that is largely due to the fact i have been trying to sort things out with calibre and when you connect to sync you charge.

Battery life is MUCH better than the WiFi. I can already tell that assuming that the batt meter is even remotely accurate. I'm still on my first full charge from OOB.

Unfortunately the battery meter is not currently accurate, and most people haven't done enough uninterrupted charge-and-read cycles yet with the new Touch to really establish the baseline battery life. It's notoriously difficult to create an accurate battery meter for lithium-ion batteries because of their voltage drop-off curve, so what we're hoping for is:
1) more accurate guidance on expected battery life, charging time, and interpreting the battery meter
2) more graceful low-power warning and shutdown

Yep. I used to have two awesome apps for batt mgmt on my Palm IIIx & Franklin eBookman which would allow me to graph voltage drop over time, etc. indicate batt swapps, etc. and generate after a while a fairly accurate time remaining/meter %. I used/needed them as after a while I got smart and started using NIMH rechargeables in my IIIx and then later the eBookman...

(The IIIx had a "hidden" meter change to "accurately" track NIMH rechargeables but it really wasn't all that great. The ebookman just had no clue...)

Which reminds me that I need to start looking for one of those for Android devices now... forgot about it...

it's not as good as my wifi was. I have had to charge it twice so far, and I got it the day it came out. With the wifi it lasted twice as long.

The battery length for me has been good but every time it's run out of power it abruptly shuts off and tells me to charge it.

Each time this has happened the battery said it had approx 1/3 of a charge left. Once plugged it in to charge the screen goes black and stays that way until charged or something.

The last time this abrupt power off happened to me it also caused a storage error and I had to do a factory reset and re-download and side load my books and update back to 1.9.5.

My battery seems to indicate a rather fast discharge, but that might be a calibration issue. Once when the batter charge indicator showed appx. 90% full I got the black screen of death stating the battery was completely discharged. I merely cycled the power switch and it turned back on and again showed 90% charged.

I'm also having a lot of WiFi issues. So either the firmware for WiFi and battery need updating, or worse I might have hardware problems. I'm beginning to get concerned.

Still on first charge out of box, with wifi on, and reading about 400 pages. I notice the wifi turns off when you are reading, so I don't have to turn it off, like I did with the nook. So far, it's working great. Nice little reader. Now, if only it had the note-taking capability of Sony, it would be perfect.

I believe that that MAY be the known bug mentioned in the 1.9.5 release notes...

I'll admit to only doing a partial top up on mine the first day OOB as I wanted to use and couldn't wait for it to charge any longer. (Was using USB port on nb so it was taking FOREVER...) And then let it do a "full" charge overnight that night. Since then I've had it hooked up to the PC only a few times, and still had the meter looking to be about 2/3 full, reading stats say 32h read, and I've finished 3.5 books. I also had WiFi on a few times, possibly as much as an hour total.

This already is WAY WAY WAY better than my WiFi EVER got, and I let that do a full charge OOB.

Did a charge this morning using my Nook Color's adapter(1A/5V) but it went to indicating a "full" charge in a suspiciously short amount of time. Time to guinea pig it I guess later.

Lasted eight days for me while on vacation (in airplane mode the whole time). I was messing with font size and the like to show off to my friends and relatives. Still, I was dissapointed that it fell well short of the promised month. Luckily my sister had a wall usb converter.

I can discharge battery quickly by putting it into up dating contents loop. I avoid this by loading only a few books at one time. That way it's easy to delete defective book file causing problem.

I want to run mine down (to calibrate it, etc), however I keep wanting to fiddle with what is on there (thus charging it up). I have turned off "power off" to try and make it loose power before I want to plug it in again.

Mine did the same thing the last couple of times. I didn't have the problem with a storage error though. I get to about 1/3 of battery and it will tell me I need to charge. I am hoping it is just something they can fix in the firmware. For now one the battery meter gets to about half charged I charge it up.
