I had Borders cancel my order because it was not in stock (i ordered a lilac) but i quickly reordered the silver one on the 11th. Which is still on back order. Hopefully soon.

I ordered my KT in lilac yesterday, 6/15, and as of right now it has not shipped yet, but it is not on back order. The website says that they usually ship within 24 hours but mine hasn't. I think borders is slightly overwhelmed with all of the KT orders. I live in the US, if that helps.

I am so frustrated as I have spent a ton of time on the phone with Borders' horrible customer service team. I "pre-ordered" my Blue Kobo touch on 6/9/2011. At that time their website as well as the email I get from them everyday said that it would ship in time for Father's Day (6/19/2011). Well that didn't happen. I called customer service again (I would also like to say that Borders' customer service is located in Philipines and I find them very hard to understand!) they said that they apologize for my inconvenience but the site was incorrect. So I waited a few days and they did update the site to say that all other colors were in stock but Blue was still on pre-order with a notation below saying *Available June 24th. Well.....June 24th has come and gone and still no Blue Kobo. I called them AGAIN on Monday the 20th to let them know that their site was still giving inacurate information....Again they apologize for my inconvenience. So today I go online and the status for the Blue no longer says "pre-order" it says "order now" and does not show backorder status. Again I call the ever-so-helpful customer service team and they inform me that the site is incorrect they do NOT have any of the Blue in stock and don't expect to until July 30th!!!!! But...you guessed it "They apologize for my inconvenience!" I demanded to know why their site has not had accurate info since they started taking preorders for this item and why it appears that they currently have stock but they do not? Not sure but they apologize for my inconvenience!!! I am so upset right now I could scream! Anyone else having this issue in the US or is it just me??????

Finally on the way!
Although Borders cs dept said it wouldn't be in stock until 7/30/11 my Kobo is in route now! According to Tracking info should be here by the end of the day! Funny think though....when I called Borders cs yesterday they were still giving me the July 30th date (when I had an email saying it had already shipped!) I am just so glad that I will have it in my hot little hands today! I can give my Kobo wireless to my daughter and put this whole mess behind me! Now hopefully I don't have the issues I have read about the touch!!!

Glad you'll get it soon. It's a nice little device. Upgrade the software though, it took care of some little issues.

I ordered mine on 6/28 and it's already in transit per the tracking (it's standard shipping though, so I'll probably have to wait a few more days). Hard to understand why yours got stuck in limbo for so long.

I hope you get yours soon lmarie! I personally am loving it! As frustrating as the wait was.....it was worth it. When I did initial set up it said something about software upgrade...sorry not a tech gal but I have sofware version 1.9.5 and not having any of the issues I have seen on this forum. So I am happy with my choice to upgrade from wi-fi to touch. I would have to say that I have found this forum most helpful. I have always been able to find an answer to and issue quicker here than by going through Kobo customer care. I am not a huge fan of the way they handle questions. If it is anything other than the most basic of questions you get ticket # and an email later? Thank you to all of those with the knowledge who share!

As another customer from downunder, I'm curious if you have received yours yet? I ordered a Kobo Touch (from Borders.com) to be shipped to Australia, which was flagged as being shipped 27/6. Two weeks later I am still awaiting delivery. To be fair shipping time was listed as 7-21 business days (so up to 4weeks), but like many once ordered I'm not so patient. I'm hoping you found delivery more prompt such that I can expect mine sooner rather than later? I really wish they had an option to pay a couple dollars more for expedite delivery. Also with my order they weren't able to give me a tracking number, and when contacted said they didn't provide one for International orders which I found annoying as I like to be able to see where it is in transit as it usually gives one an indication of when to expect. Curious if you were also not provided a tracking number? Whats annoying is that sister in law ordered a Kindle 3 from Amazon well after my Kobo Touch and has had it for some days now. ~sigh~ EDIT: Just saw @dafrizz is also from down this way. Mine was shipped on 13/6, arrived on 6/7, so roughly 2.5 weeks. No tracking number for international shipments.

Yeah, 3 weeks and 2 days no?.. Guess I'm just going to have to be patient. Shame there wasn't any local option with Borders AU in a shambles atm. Also really a shame it takes so long as most other US orders I make are usually here in 2 weeks.
Thanks @kiwipippa and @dafrizz, at least now I have a notion of when to expect. I did see that there was another thread (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=139040&page=3) with a running list of the shipping/delivery dates for people who have ordered from AU/NZ. Posted there such that my experience can be added to the list as an ongoing guide for others. ![]() And yes, I do enjoy my KT. I've had an original Kobo which I bought at launch in Australia (which will now be used by my wife). I always like the no frills approach of the Kobo. It's an ereader, I use it to read books. Simple. I don't need games, web access, music etc., so the Kobo was a good choice for me (even though they sneak in some gadgets, but at least they don't get in the way). Can't compare to other ereaders, never used them. First thing I did was build a case for the KT, hollow book style. Posted in another thread here somwhere. |
