Even though Filark's suggestion worked to solve JONNICKELL's issue, I've noticed that, using my Palm for tethering to get an internet connection, I have to turn OFF WiFi on the Palm before tethering. Even though my phone fails to connect to a router using the WiFi and drops back to 3G, it keeps attempting to use the WiFi radio for IT'S OWN signal, so it cannot provide a hotspot to other devices that will provide an IP. The tethering software makes it LOOK like it's ready, but the "guest" devices ALL exhibit the same symptoms JON's EE did -- not able to get an IP.
