When I wrote my previous statement (back in September), we were in the middle of that debate of ownership vs license and my temper was running a little high. I've since calmed down somewhat.

Harry, did you convert the ebooks you bought from Fictionwise so they will run on your Sony Reader? Then you violated the ToS. Obviously you object to it.

I want to own something, not license it. If Fictionwise licenses something instead of sells it then the prices are much to high.

No; I've only started using them since I've had a Mobi device - initially the iLiad and now the CyBook.

I guess that's something we all need to make an individual decision about. FictionWise are perfectly open about the terms under which you're buying stuff - it's not as if they're trying to deceive anyone.

As I say, I'm happy with the ToS personally, which is why I buy from them. If you're not, then I appreciate that you'll wish to go elsewhere.

I shall still continue to recommend them to people, however, but certainly people should be aware of the terms of sale.
