Turns out, I've already skewed the poll... I should have added a vote for PDF, because I have been known to read a few classics that way...
I purchase in MS Reader format and now can purchase in MobiPocket as well. But, do I read them that way. No, I convert to BBeB so I can read with my Sony Reader. So if people vote for what format(s) they purchase and then convert, that skews the poll results. I've only voted for the format I read. And that is BBeB at the moment. So if book X is in MS Reader and I buy it and convert to BBeB, I'm not reading it in MS Reader format, so I won't vote for MS Reader. That's how it should go.

Has anyone voted for a format that's purchased to be used to convert to another format to actually read?

I would use chm, html if Sony Reader supported them.

You may need a completely new poll for that question: "What e-book formats do you generally convert your e-books to for actual reading?"

Yes and no.

By preference, I get ebooks in HTML format. I convert them to Plucker for reading on my PDA, but read them in either format. I also have stuff in eReader, MobiPocket, PDF, RTF, and TXT formats, so I voted for all of them.

But do you read all those formats? Converting from does not count.

If I didn't, I wouldn't have voted for them

I convert stuff to get it in a format I can read on the PDA. If I can read it "native", I don't convert.

I use uBook on my PDA, and read in .prc, html, rtf, and txt. Format doesn't really matter so long as one app can read them. It's one reason I like uBook, good multiformat support. (I also like that it supports a proper directory structure as I've too many books for a single flat directory).

One interesting question is which DOC? DOC in caps is used often for what is now called Palm DOC but many think it is Word since it used an extension of .doc for its files.

The iSilo format is not there! Am I the only one using that format?

Apart from technical ebooks in PDF and CHM, 95% of my ebooks are in iSilo format.
