Those are CPU-intensive tests, right? I don't think the clock speed was changed (the results certainly don't suggest that). However subjectively we're seeing apps open a bit faster, system animations seem a bit quicker, eInk page switches are a bit faster, etc. I suspect some of the software was optimized and/or improved. It's like people waiting at websites - if it takes more than a couple of seconds, most people will try another website. A couple of seconds is not a long time (not like a minute), but it's enough for people to grow impatient at.

Meanwhile, I recently did a "closed eDGe" battery test. Previously, when the eDGe is closed (suspended), battery life was about 24 hours. Now, after 13 hours, I still had 62% battery, which projects to 30-36 hours when suspended.

Yep, primary they test CPU (and GPU), but also they can be used to test kernel optimisation, so thats why running this test on the same hardware, but with different firmware will show different results. In Coyote I had disabled GUI animation, so interface improovement in Dingo is allmost unnoticeable for me (but for sure it was optimised somehow )

As for closed cover test... there were an bug in old firmware which prevent EE to go in normall suspend mode. But I'll look into it later.., probably there were some changes made.

p.s. I noticed many changes in Dingo, but most of them seems to prepare for so called eDGe Junior -- next device with smaller displays and 3G module enabled.

Interesting. It helps to have a technical expert give some info from under the covers

As always, the best way to optimize useless eye candy is to turn it off.
