I found this statement when i went to their web site. Not really sure what it means, but it sounds like it;s moving closer to availability:
"Status Update! On Sunday, September 5, 2010, status on the POCKET EDGE trademark changed to NEW APPLICATION - ASSIGNED TO EXAMINER. " http://www.trademarkia.com/pocket-edge-85044677.html Exciting stuff! |

Those sound pretty much what one would expect of a mini-me eDGe. I was expecting 5" screens - the sizes listed about make it about 75% the size of the full eDGe (I was expecting more like 50%).

The size looks good, but why stay with a resistive touch screen when Android, especially 2.2 is optimized for a capacitive screen?

I was also expecting the size of the Pocket eDGe to be roughly half that of the current model. That aspect ratio, frankly, seems a bit of an odd rectangle-duck. Gonna need much bigger pockets.

For me the idea of 25% smaller eDGe with lower resolution is not the best idea, but if it will really have 3G it's a step further. It's still too large for normal pocket.
What I would change in eDGe is the weight and thickness. I know that 2009 technology isn't that advanced to make something like that in this price but that's why we always go further. I imagine 2020 version of Edge thin as paper and light as a pair of socks (what a comparision lol). Last edited by Kynareth; 09-18-2010 at 04:15 PM. |

Any chance the Pocket eDGe will also go to Sprint or, at the very least have a wi-fi only version to buy?

I just want to point out one fact about the resolution, 800x480 on a 7" screen would be 133ppi, and 1024x600 on a 10.1" screen would 117ppi, just to give you a comparison between the original and pocket edges, so, as you can see the res may actually be lower on pocket edge, it actually has a higher ppi, which should provide a better looking image! (not that I'm saying I wouldn't prefer a higher screen res, but I think 800x480 is still good enough for a 7" screen, and that's still a bit better then the 132ppi iPad!)

I am thinking of getting rid of my regular eDGe and buying the Pocket eDGe. Because of my M.S., holding the eDGe becomes hard after a little while because of its size when sitting at doctors offices or at meetings where I might not have table space and still have to take notes.
Everything I have seen about the Pocket eDGe tells me that it has mostly the same power and software that the regular one has. It seems that it will be easier than the regular one has because of it's size and comparable power. Am I correct in my thinking? Also, does the Pocket eDGe have an updated processor?
