The lending feature does not apply to all books - the ones that can be lent are marked lendable. You can lend to anyone that has a nook or the B & N software, but I assume the lend would only open it to the owner of that email address (and you can't use it while it's "out")

I put a DRM protected book into the My Documents folder of the Nook reader, by copying, and although the nook reader sees it the app just closes if I attempt to read it. |

I tried sideloading a DRM protected book through Adobe Digital Editions to the Edge. The book loads into a folder called Digital Editions, but the Nook reader does not see it. Copying to the Nook My Documents folder does not work. I can see the book, but it does not open. The Nook reader just closes, no message -just poof - it's closed. Apparently the side load trick for DRM books only works on the actual Nook device, because the books go directly from Adobe Digital Editions to the Nook my Documents folder. In order to make this work, Adobe Digital Editions authorized my Nook. Since the edge is preloaded with Adobe ID the edge does not authorize in the same way. B&N staff was totally unhelpful when I first bought my Nook, tech supports answer to how to read books purchased elsewhere (Sony bookstore) on the Nook was "we don't support Sony DRM". It took me a couple of hours of browsing to find the answer, so unless the Nook community figures it out I'm stuck.

I found this paragraph "You still do not yet have the ability to connect your Android device to your PC or Mac and transfer titles via Adobe Digital Editions (needed for books such as those from your local library), but I am hoping this too comes in a future update that would really make me a happy ebook reader." on the site Boris links to above. So, there does not seem to be away to read those DRM file from other sites. Any unprotected, DRM free, epub shoud work. But you will need to copy it to the Nook folder, sub folder My Documents. It does not see PDF files.
Apparently the app will also sync to your Barnes and Noble reader on your computer, and pick up the last place read on the Android device. Last edited by cheyennedonna; 08-05-2010 at 09:51 PM. |

If you can't find the B&N Reader for Android download elsewhere, try http://www.4shared.com/file/RhE-BNEX/bnereader-2.htm.
