Mine have shipped too. I'm not too worried, given that they offer free replacements at any time. If the first batch turns out to be defective, then it might be a pain in the butt, but we should eventually get a working product. My guess is that they wanted to limit the number of initial orders just to make sure that there weren't any errors in the cuts or whatever. Assuming there are no problems, they'll probably start selling them again within a week or two of shipment arrivals without a flurry of complaints.

My kit just arrived today. It's a total of nine pieces. Definitely going to be a project. I'll probably start with the unimportant outside hinge. I should also note that there are no pieces for the inside except the screens.

I think I now know why they pulled it from the site. It doesn't fit. I spent 20 minutes and 90% of the spray just trying to do one side of the outside and have determined they have the pieces cut wrong. The corners of the protector are too long and square for the eDGe's rounded corners.

Okay, so it does mostly fit. The trick is to wait for it to get sticky again and then stretch the corners into place.
And these pieces are way too sticky. Peeling them off the sheet is another challenge itself. Because of the corners and shapes, it will suddenly release and stick to itself. Anyone with a stress or blood pressure problem may not want to do this. |

Finally done. I can safely say I will not install another Zagg product again until they do something about the adhesive. It is simply way too sticky. The amount of liquid required to get it installed is ridiculous. When installing the screen protectors, liquid IS forced under the bezel, even when trying to do them upside down to minimize it. They're so close to the exact dimensions of the screens that there's really no place for the liquid to go.
I have found one design flaw. The battery side mic hole is in the wrong spot. It's next to the mic. The edge of it touches the edge of the mic. Also, throw away the squeegee they give you. It has too much friction and insufficient rigidity for the large surface area. Use a credit card instead. |

Thanks for the installation tips, Chas.
Mine came today--and it definitely looks like it will be a project to install it. I'm wondering if I should just wait to install it until they start selling it again, most likely modified, and then order a free replacement (which will hopefully be the modified version). Did you provide any feedback directly to them so that they are aware of the mic issue? |

Not yet since I plan on taking some pictures of problem areas (battery mic hole, stylus hole, corners).

I was using my eDGe tonight and found a MAJOR flaw in the full body shield. The material likes to stick to itself VERY strongly. I had my eDGe in the back-to-back orientation for some reading. When I went to close it, I couldn't. I had to carefully pry it to separate the sides. It stuck so strongly the body curved and pulled up a section of the shield. I now have very visible raised lines in the shield. Upon closer examination, I saw the shield thickness is equal to the thickness of the rubber feet. I think it's safe to say the shield is currently a defective design. I don't think it's really fixable either unless they can make the material thinner. I think I may try to get a refund.
Anyone that has the full body shield should NOT install it. Only do the screens. On the plus side, the shield on the LCD did seem to improve the color and contrast. |

Thanks for the warning! I'll heed your advice and just install the screens.

I've just spent the past hour or so trying to install just the eInk and it's incredibly frustrating. I would echo Chas's advice to just avoid this product for the time being.

![]() p.s. I also use an screen protector and it reflect more light than clean screen and also I notify that finger slide (move) over screen not so smooth as without protector. So i thinking that protectors are bad things for usability (but good one, if you planning to sell it after some time of using in good condition). |

I just bought a full body ZAGG protector from Amazon. Just run a search in Google, key in "zagg invisible shield for entourage edge" and you should get something.
