robot,

The Skiff looks crazy cool!! http://gizmodo.com/5439734/skiff-rea...reader-to-date

Please keep your enthusiasm up. Your ideas and vision seem to me to be right on. Without more inclusive or open source software developers, I am afraid that this device will go the way of the Pepper Pad (which I also had).

The Skiff does look pretty compelling, but, um, it's black and white?!?

One of my tweeps and I had a discussion several weeks back about how cool Apple would be if 1) it hadn't become the new Evil Empire and 2) the iPad had a color e-ink screen. When the device that combines color e-ink with e-paper hits the market, that device will put everything else out of business. Roughly ten years ago, I interviewed a scientist with what was then a Xerox lab in California. He was working on an e-paper-like device similar to those you see in the TV show Caprica. He thought then it would take him about 10 years to see it to market. He's still working on it, but I can't wait to see it come to fruition because I WANT ONE!

Here's hoping enTourage beats everyone else to the finish line.

Skiff were buyed by an media holding... so i'm not sure if it will be awailable soon.

Also there's allready 3 alternative to e-ink technology. So e-ink displays will an history after 3 years and the only use will be (as supposed) to display some static (or allmost static) information without the need for externall power (marketing ads, price tags e.t.c), or as chip mobile displays which can be folded (stretched e.t.c) like watches.

It's those alternatives I'm referring to--and can't wait for--the ones that skip e-ink altogether. Here's a not-so-new interview with the scientist I was referring to, Nick Sheridon.

I have now an pixel qi acer, but reading is still better on Nook or Edge. For reading I prefer nook, my wife uses the alex. I use edge for presentations, drawing and laptop replacement. if battery will last for more. on my acer one with pixel qi and half a tone of battery (kidding is extending battery weighting 300 grams) I get 24 hrs without any charge, not kidding 24 hrs. so I did not even bother about standby anymore!!!

+1 on the Adam, but I am still looking towards seeing the next generation of the eDGe. I hope that it take some of the attributes of the Adam such as a rotating camera. If I am going to use it for a school environment I would love the abilities to record my lecture via video. Also, I would love to the the eDGe 2.0 with a Pixel Qi screen (or some other technology) on the right meaning that it can be seen even better outdoors. Then I can truly enjoy reading and a rich web environment anywhere I am. Also hope that the eDGe 2.0 also still keeps the folding clam shell style as it is self protective.

I fell in love with that back in January too. Now that it's going to be more expensive than they projected and not run Ubuntu (plus a bunch of other specs that have been downgraded) if/when it finally comes out in November, not so much. The Pixel Qi version is likely to run at least $800, with the cheaper version being a plain old LCD screen.

Plus, it's not certain that Notion Ink isn't still stringing us all along. Their track record of vague promises of things to happen "soon" followed by months of silence and inaction makes even Entourage's track record look good (zing!).
