Hello seagal: Thanks for your suggestion!
I converted the ["xml:lang="en"] to [xml:lang="zh-TW"] and worked in the webpage "tw.yahoo.com" Maybe entourage should try to modify this method to their next update. BTW, I use "Astro" this file browser to unzip the zip files. Unfortunately, even I can go through the zip file and open the content1.xhtml and also change the xml:lang, I still can not save it back to the zip.... If anyone has another solution can directly modify or even batch convert of webpage based epub, I'll glad to hear that ![]() |

Hello borisb:
I've test the compress method in Astro, but my pocket eDGe can not open it. Even the Aldiko can not open the modified epub file. Because the epub has the different mimetype compared to traditional zip file. So simply compressed function is failed... If anything I said is wrong, please correct me ![]() |

Hello jsfiller:
I've tried to open webpage in Greek language There are two different results... 1. http://mobile.enet.gr/ It works! And do not have any problems on display. 2. http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/: Have nothing to display, even on the LCD screen. Maybe it the problem on the URL?? Because the wikipedia use Greek in URL that eDGe can't recognize? Or you can share your experience to us ![]() |

What I meant is I've tried both webSite and saved to epub format and open them on the E-ink screen. The result is the epub converted from http://mobile.enet.gr/ worked well, but the epub converted from http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/: didn't work. Or can you provide a part of your Greek epub? Maybe that can provide much more information about this problem. ![]() |

As for the Greek issue, I am convinced, at this point, that the issue is with the publishers. They have to make sure their ebooks display the fonts properly. I was probably unfair when I screamed for Greek in the next update. I'm not sure anything Entourage does could/would resolve the problem. I am equally convinced my best solution is to buy the physical book create my own PDFs. But I might change my mind once I finally get my Edge. I might find PDFs a pain. ![]() Thanks for your interest in helping. I appreciate it. |

Hello everybody:
I've made a solution to "partial" solve Chinese display problem on E-ink. As my description before, I was bothered by save webpage to epub and has all "?????" on the E-ink screen. Thanks for seagal's advice, I can simply change the xml:lang from "en" to "zh-TW" or "zh-CN" Unfortunately, we must unzip + modify contents + repack in order to achieve this goal. I wrote a simple application on eDGe, try to do all these things automatically. Here are the steps: 1. Open the browser and save webpages you want. 2. Open the app "epubeDGe" 3. Key in the folder path of the epub you want to convert (the default path is "/sdcard/public/web-epaper_docs/") 4. Key in the language you want . It will convert from "en" to what you want. ex: zh-CN or zh-TW. zh-CN get thicker font and zh-TW get thinner. 5. Press Convert! button and wait for a while. 6. After converted, It will show "File convert finished." Please noticed that every time we choose the function of save webpage to epub is accompanied with open it. In order to load converted epub, you must open another epub and reload your converted epub. Now~ we all have correct Chinese epub display on the E-ink screen. I just test it on my own pocket eDGe and use Chinese encoding webpage for test. Maybe it might works on other language, let's give it a try. Please let me know if this small app has any way to improve or report for bugs. Here is the link of app: http://www.gmart-web.com/epubeDGe.zip Thanks! ![]() |

Excellent work!
![]() I see that the epubeDGe.zip contains the APK a user would need to run to install the application. |
