You really need a snarky blogger to form a narrative for you?

Nothing in those quotes indicates a dislike for ebooks themselves, rather a worry that corporations will exploit them. Which is quite consistent with her follow up, her taking issue with a corporation futher trying to devalue the worth of books in digital formats to consumers.

I'm glad to see libraries are already cutting them out, hopefully if we as consumers do the same, they'll stop trying to pawn off a subpar product on us.

It's a funny development, we see marketplaces and ebook manifacturers trying to figure out how they can add additional value to digital books, adding in social technology etc.
And then we see the publishing companies trying their damn hardest to still sell the ebooks, but diminish their value as much as they possibly can.

I wonder why that is?

I said even if, I don't personally care how she feels one way or the other about the subject, authors are allowed to feel however they like just like everyone else. I was referring to I believe it was the second post.

Most authors seem to be fans of libraries, anyway, so Harper doing this should tick all harpers author's off if they've got any sense.

I adore Ursula Le Guin and am constantly bemoaning the fact that many of her books are not available in e-Form.

One of my ambitions in life is to buy every single novel she's ever written in e-Form and I don't care if I'm repurchasing something I have in paperback already. She's one of the true goddesses of science fiction.

Besides being a fantastic author, she's also a very opinionated person with some strong and intelligent views on the book industry.

Or read Moorcock or most of the distopian New Wave or Cyberpunk authors.

Great reads all...but not exactly beneficial in terms of our social development.

Everything I read is beneficial to my social development, this is why I share books and this is why I feel that more books need to be shared. Libraries are nice and all but bureaucracies are generally too slow too adapt.

It's clearly an article in support of libraries and against the notion of limitations on ebook lending. Rather than dealing with both the legitimate interests of libraries and businesses she uses a polemic attack on Murdock.
