True! And it is less unwieldy too since there is no spline and no physical pages to keep opened to the proper place. That was the biggest incentive for me to buy any ebook reader--I hated trying to comfortably hold a pbook open to the proper page while reading, especially one-handed.

Yes, iPad2 is significantly lighter than iPad1 and you definitely feel it. Still, after some times I simply get tired of holding it. For extended periods, I still by far prefer Kindle DXG, iRex 800 and the likes.
I don't have any problems with the glare of iPad2 though.
I never actually hold the ipad. When I grab the iPad for reading, I also grab a throw pillow for propping it up on my lap. I use a case that has a built in stand so I always use my iPad in landscape mode.

It's not even close! The reason I bought the iPad was to fill in for the now vaporware Kno reader that I pre-ordered. That 14" screen tablet was 2.5 lbs which was a feather next to the 7 lb book that drove me in that direction. Textbooks are cumbersome; tablets are intuitive.

I use Stanza and Good Reader for my reading. I have a leather cover for my iPad1 (the heavier version) which it keeps it propped up. I lie on my side while reading anyway. iPad is lighter than most pbooks and I have read more books on my iPad than I did on my sleek and stylish Iliad.

My iPad is fine as an ereader. Many people are bothered by excessive screen brightness, but I find that I can get acceptable results by reducing the brightness and tinting the screen. I also read on a Kindle 3.

I don't find the iPads weight to be a big deal. I use the Apple case and find it goves me more than enough grip.

I use several different apps for reading: Goodreader for pdf, cloudreader for graphic novels, ibooks for epubs and Kindle Reader for mobi files.
