Are you looking a the Sony because of the price? Why do you want to change from the Kobo? (just curious) And I'm not sure how much it would cost you to have it shipped to Australia. I'm showing my ignorance here, but do you have Borders in Australia?

The new Kobo Touch looks nice & should be in stores by June or July.

From what I read linux & the 350 should be fine. I have Mac computer & it works fine with that. But it wouldn't hurt to research it.
Yes we have Borders in Australia but I live in a rural area and so I have to buy online. Borders has no sony ereaders in stock. I'm interested in buying on because I want a touch screen as I read fast and I'm sick of pressing a button to turn the pages. Lame reason I suppose.

My Kobo is alright but I would like to try something else out and I quite like the look of the Sony. The Sony PRS650 is hard to get.

This. It shouldn't be so danged hard (impossible) to get a decent cheap cover. (And I got the lighted Sony cover free with mine, but I want something more streamlined for my purse.)

The font issue also chafes, but for all that, I love the 350. After having gotten it, I wouldn't buy another 6 inch reader. The 350 for on-the-go, and 7 inches for at home is my ideal.

I'm not sure I follow this. Well-placed buttons like on a Kindle or a Nook would be faster than any touch screen.
Have you tried one like that?

No because I live in a rural area so no major shops and I don't know anyone with a ereader. Also you don't have to follow it lol I would just like to try a touch screen but not a Kobo one.

The buttons on the 350 are excellent - they work really well and you can hold it and change the page with one hand really comfortably.

The touch screen is great also for changing pages - because of the infra red tech it doesn't rely on pressure - just a light touch. It's also good for things like highlighting words and looking them up in the dictionary.

All in all it's a very nice e-reader indeed.

Cheers.

I love my pink Sony PRS-350. I use it for my library epubs. My K3 is #1 reader and I hardly use my Nook since I bought the Sony last Fall. $110 is a great price for the PRS-350.

I like the screen option called margin cut -- allows you to fill the screen more with the text. I usually have to click on it each time I start reading on it. Once I noticed that with the margin cut option, I can get as much text on the screen as with my 6" Nook.

Only complaint about my Sony is that there are few cover options. I have the pink Sony cover w/out light but usually use an Oberon small journal cover. I used velcro to attach the Sony to the inside of the cover.

And I'm just the opposite. My Sony 350 is my #1 reader, Kindle 3 second (only because of a few books I can't get elsewhere) & my Nook #3. And the only reason the Nook is number 3 is because it now feels too heavy to read on for any amount of time. i still like the screen & the swipe to turn the pages.
