Why does Kobo charge more in Canada?
Why do dogs lick their nether-regions?

Because they can.

I am thinking that I am going to really upset Gerry Harvey and Solomon Lew and buy the touch direct from Can/US.

Even with postage I doubt it would exceed AU$150

I hear you, I've said the same thing before myself! (except for the part about ebook readers not being a necessity, of course )

Stores can set their own price (per Kobo Big Boss Michael Tamblyn). I would not be surprised to see a lower price via Walmart in Canada fairly soon after release.

Even so, maybe it's just me, but I almost think it's worth ten bucks to NOT go to Walmart. I hate the crowds and lineups and just feel the time I didn't spend in line surrounded by People Of Walmart is worth a tenner.

LOL People of Walmart sure are scary aren't they??? But being that the unit is in electronics you'd have to pay for it there. They have their own checkout and no need to mingle with the scary folks.

That's true enough. I want some reviews first, though. If it doesn't have folders or collections or something I might pull my hair out. I GET LOST IN MY BOOKS.

I know I could load less but I like picking things to read half way though a different book sometimes.

I fail to see what higher prices has to do with health care system. It's the retailers / suppliers causing the price hike, not sales taxes. Compare the price of cars. It's a joke and the govt. does nothing about it. Crap weather and getting screwed-over, oh dear, Canada.

Haven't been following the news lately, have you? The Canadian dollar is worth more than the US one right now. Which makes the higher prices in Canada even more annoying...
