Why does Kobo charge more in Canada?
Why do dogs lick their nether-regions? Because they can. |

I dunno, I'm Canadian and I don't mind paying a little more in taxes and on luxury commodities like an ereader (c'mon, we love them but they're not a necessity of life) if I get things like... oh, say... UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. Just sayin'. |

Stores can set their own price (per Kobo Big Boss Michael Tamblyn). I would not be surprised to see a lower price via Walmart in Canada fairly soon after release.

Even so, maybe it's just me, but I almost think it's worth ten bucks to NOT go to Walmart. I hate the crowds and lineups and just feel the time I didn't spend in line surrounded by People Of Walmart is worth a tenner. |

I fail to see what higher prices has to do with health care system. It's the retailers / suppliers causing the price hike, not sales taxes. Compare the price of cars. It's a joke and the govt. does nothing about it. Crap weather and getting screwed-over, oh dear, Canada.

Haven't been following the news lately, have you? The Canadian dollar is worth more than the US one right now. Which makes the higher prices in Canada even more annoying...
