Cloud Dragon and Sun are about the same. Keep in mind that I am not holding the Sky Dragon but I do hold the Sun. The Sky Dragon feels softer but it is a pebbled leather so it feels different.

Good suggestion...

This is my beef with mine. The insides leave a bit to be desired, and this 'lining' (what the wool is attached to) is kinda cheapo. It looks to be black vinyl. It may not be, but whatever it is it's lame. If you delete the wool, what do you get? The inside needs a 'finished' look as I see it. More unfinished backside leather, or more vinyl. A lose/lose IMO. I don't know what is left if you remove the wool. I have yet to see one. I do know that people have asked for it to be removed because they are allergic or have pets.

Wordeater,
If you order an Oberon cover made without the the wool, the entire leather (not vinyl) lining on the left side is smooth and black. (Just like the surface of the lining on the right side). Apparently this is a relatively common request as some people are allergic to wool, and the lining can also attract pet hair. The small pocket on the left will be present, but it is possible to have that omitted also. I have an Oberon K2 cover for my PRS-950, made without the wool lining. I checked it before writing to be certain that my recollection that the black lining was leather rather than vinyl was correct. I admit that I, too, would prefer the uncovered gap in the lining (which lies where the 'spine' would be in a book) to be black. Having the interior all one color would be aesthetically more pleasing. I wonder if extending the lining material would make the spine area too stiff and unwieldy. Perhaps it was considered more desirable to have openings that allowed the cover stiffeners to be inserted or removed at will. I still feel that my cover was well made, and saw photographs on Oberon's site and on their Facebook page that depicted the cover exactly as I received it. (ie with a gap in the lining that allows the suede back of the exterior leather to show through). I didn't reply to your post in order to quarrel with you, but to say that the lining is in fact leather, and to offer my opinion of Oberon's products. ETA: I have also just realized that leaving the sides of the lining open allows access to the small elastic portion of the closure if it should need replacing. The covers are still not here. Oberon shipped them at the 18th and they were consigned to German customs at the 24th but I have not heard anything since. The USPS website seems only to track till customs. This means I have now means to find out what happened to my order or when I will get it. I am just hoping the covers are well worth all the trouble!
I also found out why I was not able to order directly from the Oberon site. This is what Eileen from Oberon CS wrote to me: Quote:

Here is hoping your covers clear customs soon.
I wonder if they sent the covers and then had someone call their credit card company and say it was a fraudulent order and get the charge revoked. |

That is a long wait. I'm hoping you get it soon. From what I understand they are worth the wait.

They are most wonderful and of awesome quality. Thank you again, Prof!!! But I do have to say the 650 sits extremely thight in the small journal. So anyone interested in an Oberon cover might look for an old Sony600 cover instead. As I plan to use them on my at home reader this is no problem for me. I like the feel of the Fairy better as the feel of the CloudDragon. The CloudDragon is somewhat stiffer. Gosh, now I do have to do some serious "feeling" and "touching" with my good to the touch feeling touchscreen reader ![]() |
