Thanks for the quick replies!

Changing to: "Show text under icons: If there is enough room" has the effect of removing the text from under all the icons

Did a little more poking around, and it seems I need to edit a file in the plugins' zip folder:
C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\calibre\food network Recipe Reader.zip\__init__.py

But, when I change name in that file and resave the zip, Calibre no longer recognizes that the plugin is installed and when I go to "Load plugin from file" I get the error message:

"InvalidPlugin: The plugin...is invalid. It does not contain a top-level _init_.py file"

I will keep pluggin away...

Install the Favourite Menu PI and put them in there - take up the matter of the label length in the relevant PI threads

Well, I figured out the problem with my edited plugin zip file (I zipped the files into a secondary folder).

The plugin now installs, but the icon text did not change. Can't seem to figure out which line in which .py file to edit...

Also, it occurs to me I may be infringing on the plugin creator's rights by editing the .py files - does anyone know if this ok to do?

If it were me I would raise the issue with the developer of the PIs, I am sure she'll come up with a good solution - and who would that be then - Krittika Goyal!

I think you have to change the name in init.py and ui.py.
It is GPLv3 licensed (same as calibre) so ypou are welcome to make any changes in your personal copy. You can even make the changes public as long as you meet the terms of the gpl license.
