If the audiobooks are already in mp3 format, you can use the Overdrive app to download them directly to your iWhatever, which if you are browsing with it, will only show those items anyway. |

Libraries get to customize exactly how they want their screens to look but my main library (mymediamall.net) has a category over on the menu on the left that says "Ipod Comapatible Audiobooks"
If I click on that I get every audiobook that can be directly transferred to iPods/iPhones ... either WMA or mp3. Pretty much you download the book first to the Overdrive Console software and then transfer it from there to the iPhone. |

Regarding the Sansa players, do you recommend 4 or 8 GB?

btw - if you are going to listen to many audiobooks I prefer the specialized app "Bookmarks" than using the itunes.

A typical audio-book is between 100 and 300 MB. A huge one might be 600 MB. I think the Autobiography of Mark Twain is about that big.
So depends on how many books you want on tap, if you also want to have your music collection at your fingertips, etc.... |

ApK, I'm not really a music listening person, I really just want this for listening to audiobooks while I'm in my sewing room. I sometimes spend hours in there sewing and would love to be able to listen to a book. My Kindle will do text-to-speech but it's not ideal. thanks for your help, I think I'm going to get one of these little Sansa players.

Sansa Clip+ For your needs, the 4GB model for $36 is the best value. |

However, in the long run, you might find a membership to Audible.com worth the $$. And those play on your Kindle, by the way, as well as the iPhone. They are yet another annoying DRM version, but at least the Audible customer service is actually quite good and helpful if you have issues. |

Audible is nice if you do indeed want to build a personal audio-book library of books you'll re-play often, but for listening once, it's hard to beat the 'free' of the library.
Emusic.com also sells a decent selection of MP3 audiobooks. ApK Last edited by ApK; 05-04-2011 at 04:40 PM. |
