The latest talks about Fictionwise caught my interest so I did a little investigating.

C.J. Cherryh just published the lastest tome of the 'Foreigner' saga called 'Deliverer' so I decided to look it up.

Ebook form at Fictionwise: $25.95 list - $22.06 Club
Hard back paper Amazon : $25.95 list - $17.13 special
Paper back Alibris : $ 5.86

Is this a good way of promoting ebooks?

3 Guesses at which one I'm inclined to purchase?

Mostly in LIT, PDF, and eReader.

The mmpb of Deliverer is not yet available (volume 8 appeared in mmpb when Deliverer which is #9 appeared in hc); I agree that the market price for it is about 17$ which Amazon charges (free delivery with very easy conditions), so the e-book prices are ridiculous, but that's the publisher's fault not Fictionwise or any other etailer...

True but, as you well know, one can be "flexible" as a result of buying LIT books.

Very true. Again, I just did a format conversion of another of my purchased ebooks and it came out very nice.

Yeah but $5.86 ( read, five eighty-six) in paper back?

That's a long way from the lowest ebook!

But it's not available. You can quote any price you like for a book that you can't buy .

Harry's right, can't compare the paperback price 'til it's out.

This is probably why I thought you changed your mind about DRM (it's from an older thread):
