What's with all the hostility towards PDF's? Personally, I use PDF's the most because I can create links and display images and I already know how to make PDF files. I haven't used BookDesigner, so I don't know how well that works (but a lot of people seem to love it). However, I have found it really easy to format all my documents and books in Microsoft Word and get them exactly the way I want them, then convert the file to PDF. It's simple and I know exactly how the document will appear on my reader. If I have a file that is just all text, I'll generally use RTF (unless I got it as a txt file, a Gutenberg file, for example). I was very dismayed when I found out that my Reader would not view pictures inside RTF files until I found the PDF solution. As for purchased PDF files with 8.5x11 sized pages, I will convert it to doc (after removing DRM if necessary) and then format it to my liking (which is what I do with my wowio books). Most of this was easy for me because I already had the required programs on my computer and was elated that I didn't have to go out in search for new programs. This is why I haven't used BookDesigner. A properly formatted PDF file, though, works very well on the Reader. Anyway, I just wanted to defend PDF because so many people hate it (although I will concede that Digital Editions is complete shite--mostly because the DRM hasn't been cracked yet). You may as well give BookDesigner a try since it's freeware, though. A lot of people seem to be quite happy with it.

I, personally, don't hate PDF that was properly formatted for Sony Reader, however, I most certainly prefer LRF because I like to change text size and I like TOC auto-generated in BD.

I set the main text of my PDF documents as 9 or 10, which is the comfortable size for me. Once the text is the right size, I never really have any reason to change it. I'm going to try out BD right now. Auto-gen TOC, you say...?
