Work-in-progress, yes. The rate at which Google and especially Google users improve the OS specifically for every device is one of the great advantages for Google. There is always something to improve. That is the way Google competes, there is always something new. Last edited by HansTWN; 05-03-2011 at 11:59 PM. |

Sure that's how it goes with them. I use their browser, sure it's not perfect but it quick. Now all these tablets which one is the best one? Right now most users don't want to spend more that $100 bucks for a tablet.
But most of those tablets are okay, but he manufacturer that sells them needs to do quality check inspection. That's what was wrong with Craig. Where Maylong did that for their M-150 tablets. COBY on the other hand failed on the 7005 model but had picked up on the 7015 model. They have come along way in tablets. So may of them selling tablets out of drug stores here. You got to hand it to free market we'll buy anything new and if it doesn't work we'll take it back and get out money back as these companies that peddle at us can't want trouble. Apple has been something else from the first MAC and not to the iPAd2. Linux to Android to RIM to Motorola and soon Cisco gets on the tablet merry-go-around! |

![]() I also think it is rather interesting that, from what little evidence we have, that the second most popular "tablet" right now (at least in terms of shipments) is one that has made almost zero effort to compete with the iPad directly. They just are going their own way, and seem to be doing quite well! |

If you follow Google's development cycle nothing is ever polished when it is first released. They release free products with limited features and clunky UI, then keep on adding features until it's a great product. There have been some dirt thrown at Google stating they aren't as open as they claim, but no evidence has been proven yet. Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, and Nokia however have been quite the opposite. All are touting a closed system and have been focusing on suing each other and any Android adopter and all the while trickling new features out. BTW "the enemies" is not Apple, it's closed systems. Apple is just happens to be one of the many companies that is fighting for a closed system, much akin to DRM. And why should consumers care who wins, because in an open system consumers win as they get the best price and features. In a closed system the company who controls the system wins. =X= |

Actually I agree with you in terms of how Google has handled the handset business. But I think for tablets, they rushed Honeycomb out as a response to the iPad-although that may have been vendors like Motorola demanding it.

That's just the Google way. They put out clunky products and continue to develop them until they are great. Yet the whole time they never have press releases nor major updates announcements. I've yet to see one product where Google released a polished product out the door. Honeycomb is no exception. The only reason why it has gotten such a bad wrap is because of public expectations. Apple approach is quite different they are very innovated with newly released products, then just drag their feet in developing new features. Both ways are brilliant Marketing strategies. =X= |

Android is one of the few products (along with GoogleTV) Google has that has other hardware vendors depending on them to ship their own products-which puts more pressure on Google to ship-as opposed to their in-house stuff, which they have the luxury of developing and iterating at their leisure. |
