I placed an order on 8/27 using the Sony Card promotion. So far my order has not been canceled. So hopefully this is indeed happening only to subsequent orders.

I ordered mine 8/22 and just got an e-mail from Sony Rewards saying it shipped! Too bad I'm going to San Francisco this weekend- but hopefully it will be waiting when I get back Tuesday.

I ordered on 8/27 and it shipped today. Does it ship UPS? If so, I won't get it until next week - and Monday is a holiday here in the States.

It seems that Sony has cleared all the backorders. I read somewhere else that some orders placed early August (8/1, 8/4 etc) were just shipped yesterday. You guys are lucky to get it shipped in less than a week.

It gets shipped USPS. I forgot to ask which mailing service they use (Priority, Parcel, etc..). Or where its shipped from. I was told it could take up to 10 days. I assume they use some bulk rate and the shipping time is dependent on how far you are from the warehouse its shipped from.
This wait is horrible. Its the addiction... the gadget addiction.

I got the shipping notice on Tuesday evening, and the Reader appeared in the mail this afternoon!

Off to explore my new toy...

Sony World Repair Parts Center in Kansas City, MO. I'm in Chicago, so that's pretty close. And I just noticed that it actually shipped UPS Ground (and there is a tracking number on the box...). I picked it up in my mailroom and had just assumed it came with the regular mail.

Ugh... UPS. Looks like I definitely won't be getting mine by this weekend. Looks like Wednesday or Thursday now. Oh well. And by the way... is it so hard for Sony to email a tracking number?

Just received mine today. Shipped on 8/29 by UPS. It is an amazing device. I am looking into installing hacks now...

It finally arrived!!
I've update the firmware transferred books I was reading on my treo 750 and have been impressed so far.
Now I can join the community in the cycle of praise, complaint, and "i wish it did this..."
Ain't it the way with all gadgets?
