I am not my work. I want to do things because I choose to do them, not because I have to.
To quote Mark Twain - "Work is what a body is obliged to do, play is what a body is not obliged to do." What I find so interesting nowadays is the media drumbeat of "work, work, work" to older people. Not "take the time and explore your abilities", or "go and see the world". Just "keep working til you drop, after all, you have nothing better to do." Do you exist just to be a production unit, (with most of your value going to pay a bunch of senior managers to live like they were in the Arabian Nights)? If you do, feel free to work 'til you drop.
