mr ploppy is exactly right - Different formats add their own quirks. Since printed books are formatted for ebooks (ie correcting and adding paragraph & character styles, deleting soft returns [which w/ find & change is what may remove the space and therefore need to be added in again], etc) funky things happen.
Also, we are creating a single epub and then converting to mobi. I am adjusting the epub file only (and not the mobi file)
