Same as iPods with Apple. You'll have to ship it in to Sony or to an authorized repair shop, at least you're in CA. Unless that battery is defective or wrongly used, I don't think it'll happen in a long time.

Well I don't like that Idea of having to ship it out....... and I don't think the Sony repair shops are close by, one used to be. Oh well will worry about that I guess when the time comes...I am sure the Sony store could ship it out as well.

Thanks. I am around, but I can only read so much about a sony reader on the boards here, LOL if that makes any sense...... I skim at times, but this battery thing caught my eye....I guess I just spread myself around here and there with whatever catches my interest for the day......

ppl complained about ipod/iphone not be able to change battery more easily, i read somewhere steve jobs said why change battery, we have new ipods out often could just get a new one

It's a fair point; I've never owned an iPod long enough to have to worry about the battery dieing

. Technology moves on at such a pace that I'm sure that I'd get a new bookreader before it became a problem.

You know guys, now is the right time to begin an eink collection. With enough care, it might be complete, and as valuable as the old Macs have become, a worthwhile investment... in twenty years. Thinking of it I'll be dead then.
