In 2011???

If I will keep reading as I have done in the past 35 years, it will take me 1200 years to read 100 books

It's only now that we have ereaders that I really started to like reading books you see...

I'm at 41 books with 18,082 pages. Pretty much on target.

I'm behind and will probably stay there. I've been reading a lot of dense books (both fiction and non-fiction), and I'm really not concerned whether I make it or not. It's been a fun personal challenge to make the effort to read more each day than I normally do.

I'm at 8666 pages out of the 20000 I pledged to read (I read a lot of books that are less than 200 pages, and I didn't think it was fair to count them as a book.). So I have read 30 books, but more pages, as 30 books should have been 6000 pages. Anyway, I only have 40 hours of charity knitting done, and I have to reach 100 (I reached 500 last year, but they only match $$ up to 100 hours) by October. But I love to knit during Cub games, assuming I can stand to watch them (couldn't go beyond the 5th inning last night). So knitting should pick up and reading go down for the summer. Then there will be a big push at the end of the year.

I'm woefully behind.

However, I am NOT counting the books I read for work, which would boost my total considerably--I'm only counting pleasure reading.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of books you read for work?

Ditto. I'm not counting the thousands of pages of OSHA regulations, Workers Comp, Unemployment, Codes, DOL and SBA publications I've read so far this year. It would probably double my counts, though.

Thanks. It's a small collection but growing, it is my favorite genre after all...

And those androids are actually used to fund buying goats on installment plans!

I put 100 in my ticker because that's what the challenge is for. I'm mostly interested in keeping track of the books I read, and the challenge encourages me to be accountable.

I am happy with my current progress.

I'm at exactly 29, so I guess I'm on track. I am finding the challenge a bit relentless, and am constantly checking on my progress through each book to see if I am on target, which inteferes a bit with the pleasure of reading. I will persevere, but doubt I'll do it next year.

I hear you two wheels, my son is six and his books tend to fly by in one minute tops. With books like that 100 is not a real big thing. I think that I am hampered by the fact that I really don't have a set of authors that I follow as yet that publish reasonably priced paperbacks and $10 for a softback is not reasonable. I am enjoying Nina Wild and Eddie Chase Series book # 6, The Sacred Vault and looking foward to #7 this fall Empire of Gold by Andy Mc Dermott (A shameless plug). Perhaps I will go read the Joe Demarco series starting with book # 1 House Divided, a political triller novel (another author plug).

I haven't been keeping track publicly, but I am at 29 so far.

Unfortunately, I have run in to a gigantic pile of total crap lately. I started and stopped a Dean Koontz book within 60 pages (it was god-awful). I'll never even look at another James Rollins book (is he still a vet on the side? Might want to keep his options open). And on and on and on. That's what I get for trying a few "best-sellers".

Blargh.
