Yeah, I figured that would be the case. Way to pricey.

I know Cricket is getting decent reviews from people. They only have three plans, plus two day use plans, but they are each unlimited for the features they include. No way to actually have overages. They used to have roaming almost everywhere but not anymore as they have been expanding their coverage to pretty mucht he whole US these days. Beyond what I have read here and there I have no experience with them.

Virgin seems to get mixed reviews.

Net10 is decent for most needs. I think Tracfone bought them a few years ago or something along those lines but they still do business as Net10.

Tracfone, my only experience with them was around 10-years ago and they pretty much stunk on ice. But then there were the best of the worst. They were horridly overpriced when I used them but I did not want a contract service so it was them or pretty much nothing.

There is also T-mobile and most seem OK with them. Honestly there are a number of options.

I don't know if any of these offer tethering options if needed. Good luck, I am not in need of a cell for a while so I am waiting to see if anything "exciting" happens.

Um, I dunno. I got a flyer from Kroger and then signed up online at iwirelesshome.com. I think they also sell the phones/service at some Kroger stores, and they also sell airtime cards there for people who don't have or want to use a credit card on their account. And this is all while I've been in Nashville. I've never even been to those three states.

I've got Virgin, and almost every call gets dropped. That's why I'm looking for something new.

Christa, I'm just around the corner from a Kroger, so I'll go see if they know anything about it.

yeah, mixed reviews from for Virgin. What you might look into is who is Virgin's service provider. By that I mean are they using Verizon, AT&T or whoever's towers. Odds are you will find people using that same brand name carrier's wireless will have an experience similar to yours. Where I live it's Verizon that is awful. Then again AT&T is only marginally better but they are better when it comes to dropped calls.

So find which major carrier seems to satisfy people you know and then find the prepaid carrier who uses the same towers. It's not much but is likely the best anyone can do to find decent service.

Hopefully they can give you info. I can put up to two Kroger Plus cards on my iWireless account, so I get bonus minutes from my roommate's grocery purchases too, which is good because he eats a lot more than I do.

I just recently switched to Straight Talk when our Verizon contract ran out. It's $45 for unlimited talk, text, and internet. Or you can get 1000 each minutes and texts and 300mb internet for $30.

All phone models that end in C use Verizon service. The models that end in G use AT&T service.
