just make sure to install the latest firmware version 15.3 from here. The previous versions were pretty buggy. This one is great.
One more thing: most of the games for the PB360 are either mediocre or bad. But sergeyvl12 has written a *superb* chess applications which I highly recommend. Here is the thread about it, and here is where you can download it. Enjoy!! Last edited by Farhad; 04-11-2011 at 05:40 PM. Reason: added the reference to pbchess |

As for firmware updates, can I update to 15.3 straightaway, or do I have to go for the versions in between? |

There is no much choice in 5" e-Ink readers... I love Sony-350, but it is kinda not very cheap as for me ($179.99) and does not have a slot for a memory card
Mighty Mouse PocketBook 360 does not have a pearl display, therefore it's 40 bucks less expensive ($129.99), does have a memory card slot and does have a very unique design solution - the clam-shell protective hard cover, allowing carrying it virtually in your pocket. Also there is L-Book V5 (marketed in US as Aztak), we'll have it soon in our inventory, it is very comfortable to use as well, something in between Sony-PRS and PB360... Also reading tons of formats, not only epub/pdf, as Sony does. |

Went looking for the Sony PRS-350 last night, and was annoyed to see that the Best Buy display unit was missing and the Walmart one was bolted to the case with no charge, so I could neither play with the interface nor test the weight/feel of the device.
I DID notice from the box that the stylus lets you highlight/circle passages? Can any Sony 350 users confirm this? What I'm wondering is if your notes/marks can be exported in any way? With my Nook Color, I'm disappointed to find that the notes can't be exported from the device at all. They stay for as long as the book is on the device, and if the book is removed, the notes are apparently lost. (Que: Rooted nook color + use of Moon+ reader.) EDIT: And I finally realized that the PocketBook 360 apparently isn't 7.5 inches wide - Amazon dimensions are so bloody confusing. I want to know about the PRODUCT, not the BOX it comes in. ![]() Last edited by anamardoll; 04-14-2011 at 11:18 AM. |

About the same weight, too. Note that the PB360 doesn't need a case; its snap-on cover is all the protection it really needs. And it snaps on the back while you read so it won't get lost on you. No bulk added. I carry mine in my front pants pocket with room to spare. Also, PB360 is designed for one-handed reading. Nice ergonomics. As pointed out, there is a 360-plus coming soon with WiFi so the real question comes down to whether you prefer a touchscreen or Wifi+SDHC and a lower price. Thank you for all the PocketBook 360 love in this thread. I'm glad I went back and realized that the Amazon dimensions were "box-based" instead of "unit-based". (You guys had me at CD jewel case.)
I actually would have preferred something the size of my smart phone, but having taken some measurements, the PB360 is basically my smartphone + about 2 inches. Not too bad - I think it might just fit in my jacket pocket. I went ahead and ordered the 360 today. I hadn't seen that the 360+ was coming out until after I ordered, but I don't think I'll cancel. WiFi isn't something I really care about - I sideload all my books on all my devices anyway, and I never internet browse on e-ink, so should be fine. I suppose I'll get myself over to the Pocketook forums now and ask how I should set up my new baby when it arrives in the mail. Thank you all for the great suggestions. ![]() |

Wait, you're going to start offering the L-Book? You should go post that in the Astak forum. There's lots of people who are mourning their PEz and/or didn't get to purchase one from Astak. It was a very comfortable reader to use.

I've tried them both and the Sony is superior to the PB in almost every regard. The screen is Pearl, the page turns are significantly faster, and it has a touch screen, and they are both pretty much the exact same size. There is an SD card slot on the PB, but, given the fact that I can get a thousand or two books onto my Sony, it's a complete non issue for me.

I just remembered something I liked in the PB over the Sony, and that's the built in cover, but that too, became a non factor, when I realized that I was going to require a cover with a built in light (like the one from Sony for the 350), for reading in the dark.

You can highlight, circle passages, and add hand-written or typed notes. You can also use the stylus to tap on a word and the definition will pop up (you can choose from 12 dictionaries). I haven't yet tried exporting notes, so I can't answer that for you.
