Silasgreenback is referring to the OP by Gwen, not the response you seem to be addressing. The problem might lie in the use of the pronoun she, which can refer to more than one poster on this thread. Or perhaps it's due to confusion over which person said what in a chain of quotes. Gwen seems quite well informed to me -- so well informed, sadly, that we haven't been able to offer her alternatives. Gwen: I've read about promised readers with higher resolution e-ink screens (such as iRiver's Story HD, which "boasts a 1024 x 768 display" and better contrast than the Kindle), but I know of nothing comparable to the Sony Reader series which is available currently. And since the HD will be made by iRiver, I doubt it will use an upgraded Pearl screen. So far as I know, your two choices are to (i) pick up the current Sony model of your choice or (ii) wait for better options. The decision seems to hinge on the urgency of your desire to read ebooks from the library. However, I agree with Poppaea about the Sony case: I prefer a light that takes batteries to one that drains power from the reader, which makes the Sony a better option in my opinion. An Eneloop battery pack (with its USB charger) is your friend. Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 04-05-2011 at 12:06 PM. |

![]() I know Pearl is a type of screen technology (for anyone who thinks I don't know this). I had the Kindle 2 and now I have the Kindle 3. I don't want to go back to an earlier level of screen tech, so, unless someone else is using Pearl screens (and I don't believe they are because it would be a big feature here at Mobileread), Sonys are my only option. Thanks to those who answered my question (re: the lights). I'm considering buying a 950. Did I read an answer correctly that the K2 M-Edge case will fit Sony 950s? Does that M-Edge shut off automatically after an hour, or is it a separate light that does it? Last edited by Gwen Morse; 04-07-2011 at 02:18 PM. |

m-edge offers the e-luminator light which is designed to fit into their covers. I have a PRS-900 with an m-edge case and light. I don't know what the light does when I leave it on -- I never have!
![]() I will be surprised if the m-edge case and light designed for the PRS-900 does not also fit the PRS-950 (which I think is an excellent choice for you, Gwen! ![]() Here's a link to m-edge. You might check that the dimensions they have for the PRS-900 are the same as for the PRS-950. http://www.medgestore.com/products/sony/ My case is pink, and although it adds to the weight of the reader, I love how well it works and how cheerful it looks! ![]() P.S. My husband has a Kindle and we do manage to share/transfer books. (See elsewhere for how to.) Last edited by Filark; 04-07-2011 at 08:02 PM. |

Since jbcohen was factually incorrect, I did as that poster requested and told them they were "all washed up." It was completely clear that you understood the difference, |

Sony truly has made it easy to find out what a certain word means by double-tapping on the word and you get a dictionary definition of that word. This feature has helped me understand big words ![]() |
