i almost believed it and kicked myself in the proverbial for my bad timing. maybe should go ahead and do it for forgetting the day.

Does anyone know if they will issue a firmware update for the old models that will allow them to have all the new features or will I have to fire off an angry letter to the BBC Watchdog folks.

Fire off your letter. Not only are they abandoning future firmware updates to older models, but they're going to remove another row from the keyboard. Vowels will be moved to the "symbols" box. This will allow them to reduce the height by 0.0007 inches. Wow! That's just crazy small.
