Since you have Vista, mind seeing if you can get the July 2007 update of Book Designer to actually work properly on it? I'd like to put to bed that does or does not work with Vista.

JS, I will check it out.

For those interested, here is a review of my Thinkpad unit.

I have the Lenovo X61 tablet, and was really really frustrated for a while. Then something Alex said made me realize that it was the Lenovo add-on stuff that was unstable, and I can stop using it. I think he said something like "I took the Lenovo add-on software off because it was too unstable." From that point I've loved it.

I've been pretty happy with my Compaq TC4400 so far, I'm in my 2nd week of telecommuting with it, and my biggest gripes have to do with the quirks of my employer's VPN software, so not much in the gripe department.

For the second time I'm using the CEO's laptop. Several years back he wanted a small, light tablet and got a Portege 3500 (toshiba's first tablet) He hated it and I took it and loved it for several years. This year he wanted something bigger and more powerful and got an HP Compaq NC8430 (15" screen 1680x1050 Core 2 duo, 2GB ram this thing flies) He hated the screen. Everything was too small for him to read. So once again I got an upgrade. I'd feel bad if I had picked the units out for him. I just happened to be the next on the list for a new laptop when he decided he hated his. Can't argue with that. I've loaded Vista Enterprise on the Compaq but I think I'm going back to XP soon. I've just had too many little quirks crop up. I think I'll wait for SP1 before doing Vista again.

Although I have to say Vista LOOKS pretty. Sadly there isn't much backing up the looks yet.

And for those of you with current tablets color me jealous. The Portege was really long in the tooth but it was a hard decision to retire it. (If I hadn't been able to run Lord of the Rings on this one in very high res I don't know if I would have given up the tablet)

After I told him how sweet the laptop was, and how jealous I am, he told me to go ahead and order two. After looking at him in disbelief, he said "you're always using your home PC for work stuff without charging us, it's about time you had a loptop to work with".

I can't wait. This thing rocks! I just had to share.
NICE! Enjoy the new toy!

You really should check the dates when you are wandering through the archives...

Tut tut!!!

Is that how we welcome new members to MR?

Hmmm!!! The tone has certainly changed here. Could that be why so many have opted out?

Certainly food for thought.

Have a nice day.
