While not an ereader veteran, I find the answer's very simple, and there are 2 options..................

1] get a lot of fresh air in the day, do some physical exercise in the day, work in a very stuffy office in the day, watch a lot of TV in the evening - no, NO readin' of the reader! ].

Or, the obviously more sensible, practical, and enjoyable course of action, which I find just as efficient,

2] A small tot of Armegnac either just before retiring, or while reading, or both.

Oh, yes - surround bed with duvets/ pillows to prevent damage to reader when it falls from hands.

And don't tread on it when arising in the a.m.

You have to associate pain with your reading. So I suggest attaching some kind of buzzer or electrocuting device to your reader. You may also want to stick needles on the page turn buttons. You'll either end up hating reading, or you will develop some weird masochistic fetish.

Missed option #3: Give up sleep... after a while you go psychotic and don't need books because you have your own imaginary worlds and friends... mind you, I've got nothing against option #2 except tot size

I drop mine almost every night, waking me and sometimes the wife (if she's dropped off reading before me...). I wonder if you can get Kindle-drop insurance

Being retired, I don't worry if I read through the night. Of course that does mean I fall behind doing the laundry and other tasks occasionally. Who's kidding who. I'm always behind on tasks!

Turns out the book I was reading at that time sucked from start to finish. What a waste of time! I learned though...I dropped off reading two more books that were snoozers. I'm old enough (and jaded enough) to give up on any hopes of things getting better...

Unfortunately, no. Because the next book is a click away (you don't even have to get out of bed), if you finish the first and you aren't QUITE ready to go to sleep, and I will just read this one until it gets interesting . . .

You're doomed.

Congratulations on your ereader. You have found the right place to get the most out of it.
