Correct, analysts calculate around $260 for the $499 model or 52%, and that is just the cost of making them, then added cost of free shipping, marketing, yada, yada, I think the prices are very reasonable. Xoom is $800 as a comparison although they do have some differences in them. I am sure there will be cheaper "knock offs" but then you get what you pay for.
Personally, I think where the real money is, the accessories and all the apps where Apple get 30%. I know I have spent a "ton" of money on the extras. Like the Kindle, the iPad is just the device to get you to buy all the real profit making stuff!

Hi MsAstoria,
You nailed it.
I too spend a lot of money on apps - but thankfully this is everyone's own decision.
There is one thing I come to realize lately, my favorite apps are mostly free ones.
regards

Even thought I'm an iPad 2 owner that is not true for the Moto Xoom. Not a lot of apps for Honeycomb yet and needs some Os updates, but has a better and more powerful hardware for sure. And Android is not slow.

People will be interested on the new Xoom wifi model which will have a very competitive price.

Yeah but i think the Moto Xoom is the 1st real candidate against the Apple tablet. From my poin of view the Tab from samsung was a downfall

Hmmm... I own the Galaxy Tab and I would not compare it against Xoom or iPad, because size reasons. It is light, portable and fast. It does it's job well, which is provides access on the go without compromising portability.

The GT is too small for PDFs documents or Internet browsing. It's ok if you use it on the go or while traveling, but screen is too small for use it as permanent Internet tool.

I completely disagree about 7 inch tablets. I think with a 4:3 ratio is it the perfect size for surfing and for reading PDFs in landscape mode. (skinnier screen don't work quite as well-- the reason I didn't go for a Nook Color)

I'd would absolutely love a high-res, dual core tablet with the same screen dimensions as my Pandigital.

I'd even go Apple if they make a small iPad.

Some technical documents got the format messed up completely on 7" screen, like programming books. I cannot read those on my Galaxy Tab but have no problems at all on Kindle DXG or iPad. Poetry has the same problem.

Again, is this a joke?, the responsiveness? the interface? the homescreen?
Like i said, no competition for the ipad. And with the ipad2 already available it will stay a bit longer that way...
