I suggest uninstalling Connect because when you also install libprs500, you have two sets of USB drivers for the Sony and you may need to get rid of the Connect driver in order to use the driver libprs500 installs.

I just tried using libprs500 on my OSX machine.

The console showed the following output:

In the mean time on my winXP machine:

I un-installed the connect software and the reader drivers.
then reinstalled libprs500 and connected the Reader.
When windows asked me for drivers I chose those comming with libprs500.

prs500 info now gives me a similar text to its error message on my osx machine:

At this point I tried both softwares.

MacBeezle, did you try to recharge the battery using the power adapter? If there is not enough power left, the USB port won't function.

The charger is connected the whole time.
But the problem isn't that USB won't work ...

I'm studying applied computer sciencs - so I can't be "that" stupid

I'm writing on my diploma thesis since last june debugging progamming problems all the time.
I wish I could somehow debug this problem^^

Sometimes it can be a really simple problem. Or not. But unless you've tried all the simple things like a different cable, then you can be sure what the problem is not.
