iBooks loads a LOT faster in Bookshelf view mode.
Definitely switching back to that as default view now. |

bZkindle, my wife will use it for now, while deciding if she will use an iPad enough to buy the new one as well. We tend to recycle/exchange old tech throughout an extended family/friend network-works pretty well, plus you get to try lots of products out.

The back is so curved and thin, the 30pin connector actually doesn't look like it inserts completely-you can see a thin strip of the metal part of the connector from the rear as it curves away....rather odd and un-Applelike. It is very snug-fit though.
Doesn't come close to fitting in the iPad 1 dock, although I've read conflicting reports on Twitter about people getting it to work in the keyboard dock thing (which I don't have). Find it difficult to believe it would based on the different edge. Did I say earlier that Safari on the iPad 1 with 4.3 felt quicker than with 4.21? Safari on the iPad 2 with 4.3 is really, really, really quick. Definitely a noticeable change. Edit: to be clear, the iPad 2 "fits" into the dock with some angling, but getting it to reliably sync is an issue. Last edited by kjk; 03-12-2011 at 03:59 PM. |

Kjk, would the new smart cover work on an iPad 1?
Edit: I am sure the "on-off" functionality would not work, but I mean would it fit the iPad 1? Last edited by Donnageddon; 03-12-2011 at 12:19 AM. |

The charging seemed really slow on the iPad 2 compared to the iPad 1, although I realized I've rarely if ever had to charge from near empty before. It's only at 75% after almost 3 hours..grrr.

Is the iPad2 the same as the original when it comes to (not) being able to charge from a standard USB port?

It may charge, depending on what computer you plug it into. You see some computers supply more power through their USB ports than others. Naturally Macs supply enough juice... the newer ones at least... but it seems that most PCs do not.

I've used this on many different PC's and laptops and it works, for me at least, flawlessly. All this software does is sense when an iPad is connected and send a signal to the iPad to tell it to draw more current. |
