Unhappy Got it! It is beautiful... but...

I was pleased to admire its loveliness, and I took it to the living room where I'd been sitting reading on my PRS-700, the 650 having not arrived yet.

Imagine my surprise to see that it is just slightly larger than the M-Edge case I have for the 700. Imagine my SURPRISE when I experimented and found that it is a snug but perfectly reasonable fit for the 700. Imagine my SURPRISE when I read the literature in it and learned that it was made for the 700 and 505.

Sigh.

So before I start asking questions of Oberon, ya'll folks that have one for your 650 that was supposedly for the 600 - was it really for the 600 or did it happen to be for the 700? I don't have the 650 to try it on... Hoping...

I was told mine was from the pattern they had for the 600. Not sure if they made the straps tighter knowing the 650 was slightly smaller, but mine fits my 650 perfectly and I've had no issues with it.

If it is the wrong size/pattern, I'm sure they'd be willing to exchange it for the right one. They seem very keen on good customer service there.

Thanks Addict. I figured that it was the wrong one, really. Now I have to decide if I want to keep it for my PRS-700 (an oldie but a goodie) and buy another or send it back.

I'm actually not sure that I would want to go with the 600 cover if I do decide to do both - I've been seeing some really nice adaptations of the small journal cover (which is cheaper) here on MR and I don't mind velcro - I'm planning to skin my reader so the velcro would not be on it.

Decisions, decisions...

Oberon Cover pictures, as promised

The first two are the PRS-700 in the cover that was sent by mistake - I decided to keep it.

The next 5 are the PRS-650 in the re-purposed journal cover. I used the smallest size and the simplest attachment method - Velcro. As seen in the picture, first I put a skin on the e-reader to protect it, then the Velcro. I haven't done anything else special about this, though I may decide to put some stiffener in the front cover, and something soft over it, for a little more screen protection. I'm very pleased with both of them.

It is industrial strength stick-on Velcro, and with the amount of pulling I have to do to get the e-reader OUT of the cover, I don't fear it falling out. Picture six shows the back of the e-reader and the interior of the cover. I used the soft side on the e-reader, for those times when I do want to read it without the cover - I have carpal tunnel and sometimes even that little bit is, quite literally, a pain.

Those of you who have not bought from Oberon before - they send a little medallion with the ordered cover, and I have hooked it to the tie leather. Don't know if it will stay there, depends on whether it makes me nutz or not.
