When MS-DOS 3.1 was in full effect, the computers were not as common as today. It only got realy kicked-off into main stream when Windows came into play.

command line crap
I haven't yet experienced an operating system where going to console level wasn't absolutely necessary at some point.
This leads me to the conclusion that people sharing the quoted attitude, are left with following options:
  • Sit on you butt 'till you 've learned it
  • Be nice to the techie in your neighbourhood
  • Have galore of spare money to feed the commercial techies
  • Purchase only devices magnitudes simpler than a computer
